I am almost afraid to say t outloud but.... In 4 days my Spicey has the pad training figured out!!!! She will still have an occasional dime size spot of pee here and there but not poo !!!! She will go right to the pad, and yes sometimes it is pretty close to the edge , but she goes there!! I have told you how I have diapered her all the time the first 4 weeks I have had her, well I started Tues of no diapers and showed her the pad and when i seen her looking for a spot I would help her get to the pad. I still put a diaper on her when it was bedtime. For 2 nights, last night she woke me up wanting her diaper off!!!! I took it off and she went straight to her pad. I am in shock. In the kennel where I got her they did no kind of training .Could she be catching on so good because she is older? She is 6 mo tomorrow. I am not going to question it but enjoy it and hope t keeps up.:) |
Congratulations! My yorkies have always potty trained super easy as well. I always thought, why would they not, they are an intelligent breed, bred for work, so they should be easy to train! It always took me longer to trust in that they were trained than it did to train them. Congrats on having a smart girl! Now just stick with the positive reinforcement, and hopefully its smooth sailing from here on out. :) |
She is doing great, my 2 were good at house training and picked it up really well. |
Wow, that's just amazing!!! If this is true, she is beyond smart and intuitive - I hope this success continues. And also, can people hire her to train other puppies :D? |
Sounds great so far, and I hope it continues. I have never heard of anyone diapering a puppy. Did she pee in the diaper or did you take it off to take her to the pad or outside to potty? |
I took it off several times a day for her to pee on a pad. We are both so much happier now. however as I said she sometimes missed the pad or has an accident maybe once every 2-3 days , but all in all I am happy with her progress. She is such a love. |

Sophie learned very quickly too! I love that if she has to go in the middle of the night she will walk down her steps do her thing and come back to bed and snuggle in and go back to sleep.. Yorkies are very smart dogs. |
Great idea about the washable pad under the pee pad!!!! She now will bark to let me know in the middle of the night she has to go! She doesnt have a regular crate , she has one like a crate only the top is open so I need to put her in and take her out. So she wll let me know she wants to use the pee pad ! LOL Do any of you know what the different barks mean? I am learning she has them. One for wanting to play, one for needing to use the pee pad, one for just wanting to be out of the pen. Then she has that little whimper that she wants loved! LOL I am careful about which one she uses as I will not give into her when she just barks wanting out. I will wait for her to stop barking then take her out. |
