Heart Worm Medication Can anyone please recommend a good safe heart worm medication for a small 5 lb yorkie? I heard some can CAUSE diarrhea. Thanks so much! |
I use Heartgard and my yorkie is 5 Ib. Whatever medication you decide on just make sure you never give it on an empty stomach. |
I use Sentinel for my two. (Magnus 16 lbs, Zoey 5.5 lbs) From what I've been reading, some dogs have certain reactions and some don't to different brands. Hope you find the right one for your furbutt! |
Dutch gets a shot that last 6 months for her heartworm |
I'm switching to Heartgard today without flea prevention. Unfortunately finances have become a major issue and this was much less expensive. I got a 6 month supply for $35, less than what two months of Advantage Multi or Trifexus was costing me. I was told that if fleas became an issue I could just give him a single dose of Nexguard. He was vaccinated yesterday so I'm holding off on the heartworm meds until today. He weighs 7 lbs. |

I appreciate the feedback I very much appreciate all the feedback. I was using Heartgard prior to my yorkie having bouts of diarrhea...but I stopped it for the winter and then she came down with the diarrhea about a month later... I want to do what is healthiest for her. |
