Im sure we're talking this to death..but curious who is still feeding chicken soup... Im still not sure what to do. Its the first of 4 kibbles that Daisy will eat, and now Im almost afraid to keep feeding it to her. I know that its not in the recall, and my bag especially doesn't fit into the code thing or anything....but Im not sure. Is anyone still feeding it? She seems fine to me.......... |
I am finishing the bag I have because they have ate out of it and have been fine. Then I am switching for a little while. My dogs dont eat the chicken soup that well so it gives me an opportunity to try other brands. I have heard great things about Innova and they sell it at a storee near me so I am trying that. |
I haven't been on much in the past month and just read more on this yesterday and found that Chicken Soup was among the recall. I TOTALLY PANICKED!!!!! However.....mine have been eating out of the same Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul bag (which isn't on the recall dates) for the past 2 months and are fine. They say the symptoms are almost immediate.....so I did continue to feed mine the Chicken Soup that I have (mixed with Pro Plan). I would have just DIED if my 4 Yorkies would have died from eating something I bought for them even though it wouldn't have been my fault. I feel so terrible for those that this has happened to. It reminds me of when the human babies were dying from eating the jarred baby food that was supposed to be so good for them. :( |
Just look at the FACTS! Pixies Bag is Brand spanking new! I bought it a week ago, when all the rumors were flying about Chicken soup being contaminated too! (Please note that I said "rumors") And she is doing just fine! Chicken Soup was not part of the recall. I repeat, chicken soup was not part of the recall. Pixie loves it and is wild about the natural balance too! Now do I wish harm on my dog? NO! Am I a dare devil who is taking chances with her life? NO! I am feeding a high quality food that has no issues with the toxin mentioned in the Diamond food recall. The mere mention of a woman with a dead Sky Terrier whose tests are "still pending"???? Brought up a big scare and caused many people to question this brand without having any real facts to back the claim up! I do not believe in talking bad with out proof. I think had the tests come back and Chicken Soup was to blame for this dog’s death, we ALL WOULD KNOW BY NOW! The fact that these test results have not surfaced tells me that this was not the cause of death for this dog... Just a grieving owner looking for someone to blame. I pray that she now has closure. I would also like to point out that the second wave of info also mentioned the Cosco brand of dog food produced in a diamond facility as being the cause of death for a cat. This too was never confirmed. Hmmmmm I don't know about you, but I am not convinced! I will point out the obvious here and say that had Chicken Soup and the Cosco brands been affected we would have seen thousands of deaths, not two. I did not wince once when I watched Pixie take her first bite of Chicken Soup. In fact I was thrilled that she liked it! You can also take comfort in the fact that after such a scare, Diamond will be extra strict in their quality control from now on! So to answer your question, yes! I do feed Chicken Soup! And I feel very good doing so! |

Ditto that, except my nearest store is like 35 miles away. |
I bought a bag about a month or two ago and Millie is fine and has been eating it every morning. I am still feeding it to her, because as stated above "Chicken Soup" was not on the recall list and does not contain corn. |
Im not sure what to do. On the one hand, she loves it, and has been fine...but there is that off chance that with cross contamination, etc... it isn't worth it. NOW finding something else is the hard part. Every brand at the grocery store has corn in the top 3 ingredients. And with her very dry itchy skin, Im sure that wont help her. Im going to go to Petsmart tomorrow and see what else I can find. I have some Purina Indoor Complete that she'll eat tonight and tomorrow am. Yes it has corn, but at least I feel better about it This thread wan't meant to cause any debate...and if you still are and continue to feed it, thats great. I guess it all comes down to personal choice :) |
My mothers 4 yorkies are still eating the Chicken Soup and they have had no problems. |
Still using it ;) |
Well, let's see. I was feeding Chicken Soup. I had just bought a new bag before all this hit the moon and hadn't opened it yet. I debated and debated and decided that even though it wasn't on the list for recall and my state wasn't on the list either that I had a dilemma about what to do. I opted to take it back and try something else for now, until all this blows over and they have corrected everything. I got the Science Diet because the store I had purchased the Chicken Soup from only had that and the Diamond brand as my other choices, well because the off brand and the ones I can buy at Wal-Mart. I elected to try the Science Diet. Let me tell you what. It smells absolutely awful, my dogs absolutely hate it and their poop is absolutely terrible. In fact, the first 2 days they had diarrhea out the wazoo and I thought I was going to pass smooth out every time they had to poop. I don't think I will make it much pass this bag. Will either be switching to something else or back to Chicken Soup. Neither one of my dogs were showing any symptoms on the previous bag of Chicken Soup. Oh, what hard decisions we have as "mothers"!!!!! |
Yes, I am. |
I had mine on Science Diet before because it was "vet recommended". Then I found out that it really isn't good and that vets recommend it because they get a kick-back for scholarships. :( |
What my vet said just an hour or so ago. Copied and pasted from another thread. Ceeby has had another terrible day. he has had Nutrical three times today and no food or water at all and is dry heaving so I took him to the vet today. He thinks the Cesers he ate yesterday is what messed him up today and told me to stop feeding it. I asked him about the Chicken Soup food, not that Ceeby eats more than a kibble or two but i wanted to know, and he said, "Oh no, please don't give him anymore. It's not on the recall list yet but probably will be soon." He said no matter what date is on it, not to feed it to Ceeby. Sooooooo, I guess my little dog will starve to death. That and the Ceser's is all he will eat. He had been really sick since Sunday but was well yesterday and eating fine. Playing and being frisky. Then started going downhill this afternoon. So you guys feeding Chicken Soup might want to see what your own vet says about it. I have a wonderful vet that knows his stuff. I will take his advice. |
My mom is still feeding it to her dog & she's fine. |
