One thing I found is that if the strap is not shortened sufficiently and the bag lands more on your legs the passenger gets bumped about more than one would like as you walk. Nobody needs a passenger with motion sickness. So easy enough to correct by adjusting the strap. I also felt much more secure having the crossbody strap. I may add a loop to put a clip on the bag that attaches to a belt around my waist as added security. |
I have a Jeraden Windsor, given to me by a dear friend, when we got Katie. It's a heavy bag, but it is beautiful. They put a lot of thought into making a well-ventilated, nicely structured, comfortable bag for a dog. |
I worry about this all the time when carrying my pups. I have voiced this concern to my hubby, so he's aware when we are in public that we need to be alert. I figure if someone tries taking my purse, they will have to get past my 6'4" 280lb hubby to steal our babies :p |
You know, before we got Jack, I never thought of this. One reason we chose the breed was to have a portable pet. We did not feel that we wanted to bring a pet into the family only to be left home alone and boarded when we are away. My plan has always been to have my little buddy with me most of the time. I discussed this with the breeder and wanted a good temperment that would lend itself to being a good traveler and good errand runner. I didn't imagine this risk. Well, at least I am aware and am taking measures to keep him safe. I am blessed with Jack who is a very stealthy buddy. He is very content to hang out in the bag. No barking, whining, or trying to climb out. I am thinking that if he is this good as a playful pup, we are golden. Fingers crossed! |
No you are not too paranoid at all. If I took my baby on the road with me a lot I would be paranoid too. I don't know how structured or fancy you want the bag to be but I make a cross body hobo style pet carrier the "Pooch Pouch".
