Do your yorkies ever decide they aren't hungry for the day? Yesterday, I made Chloe a new batch of homemade food with her favorite vegetables, chicken and couscous. She has refused to eat since 11 am yesterday and it is 9:30 pm now, I don't know what to do. It is organic chicken, too! I don't know why she isn't eating. She is playing and seems fine.. but she smells the food and walks away. I have even tried putting cheese on top and still nothing. Can it be she doesn't want chicken? What to do.. just let her not eat for today? |

Hopefully Chloe has eaten today. When Jaya decides she doesn't want to eat it worries me because she is 3lbs. Usually a dab of Nutrical in the roof of her mouth does the trick and sparks her appetite and she gets back on track. |
I think we have all had days like this, it does make you worry that something is wrong but as long a sits only a day and there is no other signs of illness , we put it down as on off day, but it's interesting so hear what Zoey Zendaya was saying about the moon etc I think that's a valid point , I will need to observe my 2 and see if I can see any pattern with their off days. |
:) Ohhhhh yes, our Harry has days like that, too....my lovingly home-cooked creations sniffed at, then sneered at  then just walked away from....:( What I have learnt, over the years, is that if I try to force the issue - adding more and more 'delicious toppings' - then he will actually throw up. As with us, if their little tummies are feeling a bit dodgy, I think their bodies are telling them 'not today, thank you'! :) Good luck, and I hope normal eating has resumed! :) |
Is there something in the dish that is new to her? Or maybe something that did not sit well with her previously? Since the sense of smell is a major factor in what a dog decides to eat I would guess there is something in there she is not going for. |
My dads dog Lilly is the pickiest eater in the world. Sometimes she scarfs things up but most of the time she sniffs the plate and walks away first. We used to sit there and hand feed and try to encourage but now we have given up. If she's not hungry, she's not hungry. We just save her plate for later. And it doesn't matter WHAT is in the bowl, there could be cheese, steak, chicken, etc, she is a snob. |

Piper will act hungry; give me little ga-ruffs and act excited when I ask her, "Are you hungry? You want something to eat?" But when I put a little helping of her usual down, she has no interest whatsoever...Why??? Because in my case the little munchkin is angling for treats!!! |
