Ideas to put in the Kong Poppys gets really sore teeth, her baby teeth haven't fallen out yet and she gets to the stage where she will chew anything. I have some teething toys for her but the most popular by far has been the Kong, the lady in pet shop said to fill it with natural yoghurt and some kibble which i did but she's just spewed it up (on her puppy pad which was a bonus!!). anyone any ideas what else? That must have been too rich!! could I put water and some of her chocolate button treats broken up? |
My pup loves peanut butter, I just buy the salt free kind and then stick a treat inside. It keeps her busy for a long time :) |
I read about that somewhere will give that a try, thanks! She's about 3/4 months will that be ok? |
Yes we started giving ours it around that age, it will be fine |
Ditto on the peanut butter. I never had issues with them. And if it's for teething, you can also try soaking a small baby hand towel in water and freeze it. Once frozen, give it to Poppy and let her chew on it. I think it brings some relief for them chewing on something cold... Good luck! |
Our trainer told us to fill it with peanut butter and freeze it so they play with it longer and the cold helps :) |
Definitely be giving the peanut butter a try tomorrow. Great idea with the towel too, will give that a try also :) |
I'd fill it up with stuffing it with canned/dried food of lines that are made for sensitive tummies like Wellness simple ingredients. Or other more gentle treats. |
Ditto the canned food, and freeze it. That got us through Dex's teething period with our sanity and woodwork intact :) We now have 4 kongs of various sizes and always have a couple in the freezer. Makes for great distraction when you want to refocus his energies. |
Great idea with the canned food, never thought of that. Thanks :) |
Cream cheese with a carrot stick. My dog started hating peanut butter cuz we gave it to him so much and then he associated it with our leaving so now he won't touch the stuff! Smart rascal! |
I buy the little kong biscuits that are shaped to fit inside the kong and my 2 love them. |
Great ideas will give them all a try over the next few weeks and see what the fabourite is. A kong with wet dog food is freezing at the moment she can have it later tonight. |
