Nervous about finding a groomer! So its about time Daisy got a trim. Only a slight trim is needed (and boy will I stress that!) because her hair has grown a bunch since we got her 2 months ago......but there are some spots that need to just be fixed up..and she needs a really good combing and doesn't always let me do it. So.....I now have to find someone to do it! I dont want to go to Petsmart really..have heard some not so good stories. There is one close by...that a friend recommended. But i went in there last week (also a small pet store) just to look around, and no way would I bring daisy in there. There were some dogs in the back, i guess already groomed or waiting to be, that were barking, screaming, etc....the place was messy, the owner was walking around barefoot and there were a few puppies just running around!! Anyway..so now i have the task of tring to find someone! I also need to get her some oil for her food!! Her skin is sooo dry...you can see it! I was gonna try some vegetable oil, but that scares me. I found out the vet carries one, its $18, but almost years worth! So I must go get that this week too! Ok enough rambling.......... |
I know how you feel I am searching right now for a groomer for my little Chloe bc she is in need of a trim big time too. I hope that I find someone soon bc man she is starting to look like a rag mop!!!! I am so scared that I will end up with a shaved yorkie with some of the stories that I have heard!!! |
Well, when I was looking to find a groomer for my dogs, we asked our vet. He recomended a lady that had her own business in Fayetteville. The only bad thing about her is that she is always packed. Which is a good sign. If you go somewhere and there is hardly anyone there at all, I would definetly turn and run! We have had some really bad experiences with groomers. I had no idea you could put oil in there food to help there skin. My gizmo has dry skin, and I think his hair even looks a little dry, it might just be his shampoo. Well I hope that I have helped out a little! :) |
I'm a huge believer of "doing it yourself". That way you always get what you want, if you don't it's nobodys fault but your own...and it's free. :p I'm giving Syd a trim on Saturday...she's looking forward to it (sarcastic) |
I do my grooming myself for now - but have groomed and/or taken my other dogs to groomers for years. We have a lot of groomers where I live. With a new little puppy you certainly have time to try a few of them. If you're happy with the first groomer you use - great! If not, try another. And - of course - ask all your friends where they go. A lot of groomers specialize in different breeds. Find out who's good with small dogs in your area. Carol Jean |
