For Those Who Use Groomers I just dropped my girl's off for their weekly bath at the Groomers. As I was leaving the car next me out darted a tiny Yorkie and took off across the street. Mind you this is a very busy road almost what I call a highway. It's owner had another dog in her arms and the yorkie got out of her arms and took off. We finally got him back after he ran across that road 3 times and almost got hit 4 times. I held him for her and took him into the grooming office, he was so very scared I got scratched up on my arm, he was still trying to get away. I told the owner to please never handle both at the same time, alway's have a leash on them or have them in a carrier. So just a reminder to please use caution when taking your pet's into a grooming office or any place for that matter. Never assume they won't run. |
I'm so glad to hear it turned out ok. Great reminder though, that it only takes one second for them to escape and be in the danger zone. Never ever take chances, especially in circumstances where they are excited and distracted. |
Wow.. glad you were there to help her out! |
Wow, very scary, glad you were able to help! Whenever I take both boys to the groomer, one is in a carrier, one on a leash. I will not take chances - P-Nut is strong as a bull and it's hard to contain him if he sees a bird or a squirrel! |
so true, my groomer told me that someone dropped a leash when they were trying to manage two dogs and the dog darted into the street and got hit |
Thank God you were there to help! Really, it's amazing the little guy wasn't hurt. Thank you for a good reminder, as Yorkies can be completely unpredictable no matter what the situation...just about the time you think you "know" what they'll do---they don't! It was just too, too wonderful that you were there and made such a life-saving difference. |
such A great reminder. For my lil Yorkie for the vets he goes inside in his carrier. THen I can remove him from the carrier (if I so wish to), and have him on lead in the vets office. big or small I take one dog in at a time. Dogs rushing out of the cars, leaping from arms, dropping leads can happen so very quickly. It has happened to me, more than a few times, well not the leaping out of my arms, but the other things. |
Omg, how scary and almost tragic. I have to wonder...what on earth was she thinking not having leashes!!??? |
Somerimes i think these folks just done understand how fast these little critters are, especially when stressed! |
Glad you helped get him back but I think she should use a carrier for both of them and that way they would be safe all the way into the vet's office. In there she could attach their leashes to them. |
Wonderful reminder to all of us, Vicki. Never can get too many reminders of what can happen in an instant that forever changes our dog's - and our- world. Thanks to you, that little Yorkie is home today. |
I should elaborate that I, too take one in at a time. |
Very scary! I am glad you were able to help avert a tragedy. Great reminder to leash or put dogs in a carrier -- especially when trying to manage more than one at a time. |
