Yorkie not playing anymore after GME My dog was affected with GME, and she is on prednisone since November 2014, but she does not play at all, she got overweight because she is supposed to be a 5lbs yorkie but she's around 7lbs. She started wagging her tail around 2 weeks ago, but other than that she just sits looking depressed. She is also on itraconazole because she got ringworms from a cat. Has anyone ever experienced their yorkie go into depression mode after GME ?:( |
Aw, poor baby :(. I would ask the vet about whether this could be a side effect of the prednisone...and maybe it could be adjusted. Otherwise, she may need a med to help her perk up if she actually is depressed...there are some pets who have to be on prozac for a while. |
Omg How old is your baby? So very sad. What were the symptoms she had? My little boy RIP, did very well on peradzon. It took about 1week and he was himself again. He was also on chemo and lots of other med. GME is very, very terrible. Please respond with info. You & little one are in my prayers. |
She's 2 years old now, I agree it is really sad. She got seizures frequently during the night, limping, peeing everywhere during the day and when she was sleeping, it looked like she hated me and she was emotionless, she was shocked, her head was always tilted, she used to run in circles, got really poor eyesight. All that managed to go within 2 weeks of the prednisone, but the seizures during the night continued for a month. It is gone now but most of the time now she just sits down with her head down, it breaks my heart to see her like this. |
Gme Is she on any chemotherapy? My little guy was on lots of meds. His symptoms got better fast. But, he didn't want to play for months. It took about 6 months for him to want to play. This should be the case for yours. The life span is 2 to 5 yrs. with this horrible disease. Just love, love, & love her. So very sorry |
You're very lucky to be able to say she is still with you. My Troy had GME and it was a very rapid decline. I don't know if it's the steroid that causes the depression but Troy wouldn't play even without the meds. I think it's the disease . |
She did not go on any chemotherapy, the prednisone made her better, and now she is so much better, I'm starting to see emotions again, I think it was the medication. I am very, very sorry for your loss. |
Gme So very happy for you and your little one. The chemo is very harsh stuff. Keep us posted. |
Lily is finally doing better, however the prednisone did cause ulceration of her digestive tract but we're working on that too. |
