eating after being spayed Sophie was spayed two days ago and she is still very tired and only will eat if I feed her by hand and same goes for water I spoon feed her I think it's because she is afraid of the sound the lampshade collar makes when it touches the bowl any ideas |
Poor baby. I can't imagine having to have that contraption on all the time. She really needs to be able to eat, drink and move around. How about putting a onsie on her instead of the cone thing. i know a lot of forum members have done that after a spay. |
I have had many females spayed over the years and never had to have a lampshade collar on them. Why don't you just remove the collar for awhile and just watch her close. Is she on pain medication? It usually takes them a few days to quit hurting and to start feeling better. Just continue to hand feed her and spoil her. I pray she makes a speedy recovery. |
Does she even need the cone? Have you tried taking it off and seeing how she does? I had my toy poodle spayed and my yorkie neutered within the last year. My vet is pretty awesome with the stitching. She did not send either of them home with a cone and neither bothered the incision. Diana |
Thanks everyone I will try giving her a break from the cone and hopefully she will eat. |
Lola only wore the cone when I couldn't watch her and she never messed with her stitches. The cone was inflatable and she didn't seem to mind it too much, it was like a pillow when she layed down. |
I will have to see if I can get one that is inflatable in her size thanks |
As long as you are watching her you can take the cone off for her too eat. |
Tried taking the collar off she wanted to lick eight away so I got the inflatable collar what a difference she is so much happier. Thanks! |
