Poop eating!!!! Help! My 4 month old male puppy tries and if I don't get him fast enough eats his own poop, how do I get him out of this habit, its gross... someone please help me!!!:eek: |

I have started giving probiotics and a small amount of pumpkin each day which are supposed to help, but more importantly I have been using the "come" command with treats. I use a small treat, and every time I say "come" and she comes to me she gets a treat. She now comes to me every time, so when I see her pooping outside, as soon as she's done I say "come" and she will come to me to get the treat. That gives me time to go out and pick it up in case she goes back out to try and eat it. |

I had the same problem with Annie when I first got her. Vet said to pick it up right away. Since I pad trained her, it was easy to watch her and pick it up and trow it in the toilet. She gets a half of a Blue Buffalo mini bone if she poops and doesn't try to eat it! She now knows that the bone is worth it and comes to me and dances so I can go look and give her the bone. Initially I wasn't paying attention one evening and since she couldn't get my attention, she went and and got her poop, brought it to me and dropped it at my feet! Needless to say I always go look if she's doing her little dance in front of me now. The treat bone cured her from trying to eat it. |
xdog I have caught SPUD trying to eat poop. I pick it up right away plus I have to wash it down with the hose or he will lick that. Guess it brings out the dog in him ha |
Welcome to the club. I had a yorkie that ate some truly disgusting things. Not only did she eat her own poop but she also ate the cat poop and the cat's vomit when she would through up a hairball.:eek: I was able to stop the poop eating from the suggestions on here but I never was able to break her of the habit of eating the cat's hairball vomit. The only thing I could do was to diligently brush my cat and give her hairball treatments to prevent vomiting. If I didn't.....up comes the vomit! |

I had read this from others and thought so glad boo doest do that. Well guess what this month he has started ugh. Only frozen ones of my princess. Sooo nasty. Tried pinaple no help. So get it up fast ass i can. Now he dont (least right now) eat her fresh stuff. Makes me gag just typing this. |
What's grosser than a yorkie eating it's own poop.... a yorkie burping in your face after eating it's own poop! A while back I let Lexi out to go potty and I got distracted to see if she was pooping and when she came in I picked her up to smell her breath to see if she did, and she burped right in my face... there was no mistaking that she ate her poop. So gross! |

My little one is 2 and a half and still does it if I am not quick enough to get it off the wee wee pad. We have tried everything and he still has what I call "a taste for waste." If you have any success finding something that does work, please post it and good luck.;) Quote:

My shihtzu loves her poop tried pineapple pumkin I'm now with blue buffalo and stool no from petsmart it's been 4 days have not seen her eat poop but it's to shirt of a time to tell and I give all my dogs to make sure she won't eat there's. |
