Puppies Is it normal to put a desposit on a Yorkie puppy that is only 10days old? Mom and Dad looked very good. The pup will not leave till 10-12 weeks old. Breeder seemed to be very knowledgeable. |
If they have a waiting list then no. They wouldnt know what to tell a perspective buyer was availible. Or you might change your mind. And they turn down a offer. Some wont let people pick till a certain age. |
I know some breeders will let you place a deposit, even before a litter is born. Then they will get 1st, 2nd, 3rd pick etc depending where they are on the waiting list. If they tell you you have to pick now, I would pass since it is too young to tell their personality, look, size, etc. |
Yes it's common . |
It is common and most breeders will have you put a deposit on the puppy when you decide you want the puppy, or if you are on a waiting list. A deposit when you go on the waiting list secures YOUR position on the list. When my babies are born, you pay the other half of the deposit, to secure YOUR puppy....#1 male or #2 male, or #1 female, etc. Thank God, I have a pretty long list of people wanting a puppy, so when the waiting list is full, I start turning people away that are wanting puppies from that litter. Paying a deposit for your puppy, commits you to that waiting list and your sincere intention to honor receipt of a puppy from that waiting list. That keeps a breeder from depending on the sale of that puppy, turning down potential buyers, and then getting left "holding the bag" on a puppy you said you wanted then decided you didnt want..... |
Depends on the breeder. . . My breeder would not take a deposit until they are evaluated at 8 weeks |
