Newbee I am new to Yorkietalk. I lost my little boy a yr ago to a terrible disease called "GME".i have been heartbroken ever since. My little one was only 7yrs and one week when past. My husband and I spent several thousand dollars in treating his illness. Almost 2 yrs. in remission but his little system couldn't take all the drug therapy. So I'm thinking about another baby coming into our lives. Would like to know how to find a good breeder and how to interview them. Thanks for reading Shicks |
Such a long process. I was in the same boat as you and probably spent 100 hours of research before I settled on my perfect breeder. Google was my best friend. I also checked with BBB on every breeder. Also, yelp and googled for reviews on each breeder. I started with AKC who led me to YTCA who had a very long list of breeders. I then contacted individual breeders and started conversations with them. I found lists of questions to ask on this site and on AKC site and boy, did I ask them. Instantly ruled out all breeders I could not visit. If I couldn't meet them and see the mama, I was not interested. Met some wonderful people. All of this research led me to yorkie talk which is where I found my winner. Best breeders in the world are right here on yt. Check out the breeder section and private message those who interest you. The scariest part of yorkie talk is learning all the things I didn't know before. Kind of like raising our children, lol. I am now almost militant in my passion for the yorkie breed. Good luck on your search. Take your time. You want it to be right. |
Hi and welcome to YT :). I'm so sorry about your loss, it sounds just heartbreaking. Wylies's Mom has great resources. You might check the breeders section on YTCA. Some thoughts: -I only by from breeders who are actively showing - these probably will not be the cheap dogs, they usually breed to get their next champion. - I also ask how many litters they have a year; of. Ours they can lie, but it gives you idea if they are BYB. - always like to see the mother and father, but again they can lie about that. Good luck in your search. Probably recommendations from people you know are the best. Also go to shows and talk with the people who are showing (when they aren't in the midst of getting ready to go into the ring however) |
Thank you for replying. I'm new to Yorkie talk so I'm trying to find my way. |
Research the breeder completely. Look for complaints etc on line. Then check here. See who people bought their pup from in your ares too |
