Male or Female? Hello! I was recently notified about a Yorkie available from a breeder and it is a male. I was wondering which gender is maybe..easier to train or not as loud or hyper? If anyone has any tips they would be greatly appreciated! :dog: Thank you! |
In my opinion, male or female is not an issue. If you have your little guy neutered, they do not seem to 'mark' as much. If you don't encourage them to bark when they are tiny and their little bark is so adorable, they do not seem to grow to be yappers. I let mine bark at the front door, birds and such; then after a little I just tell them "ok, enough", and they run back to me and settle down. |
I have a male & I love him so much!!! He's very smart too! :D I say go for the boy as long as he's healthy! :) |
Go for a girl, most of the time they grow up to have a cuter baby face. |
I don't know about that! I think if they have a cute baby face to start with, they keep it, boy or girl. |
I have one of each and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world! To me, potty training was just as time consuming for both, not really easier for one over the other. As Laura said, male or female should not matter. As long as he's healthy, you can work with him on the training issues such as potty, barking, etc. Best of luck to you:) |
I love my girl Kelsey :) She is very emotional and gives me the love I need. I really don't know what the big difference is besides their 'parts'. Let us know what you decide and why ;) |
I have a male and female and there really is no difference I love them both the same. |
I've never seen a Yorkie that didn't have a babyface, that I didn't fall in love with! That being said.... I originally wanted a girl.. and looked and waited, everyone said DON'T get a MALE , he WILL mark forever. But then I found pups, and the females were already gone, and two boy were left, so I went to go LOOK at them, well he came home with me! And he has marked twice, once at a friends and once at my moms, who both have dogs. Also he was not neutered then. Since being neutered he has not marked at all. ( inside) Outside he is a wild man and marks every post, tree, sign, bush, leaf pile, whatever, but I could care less about that. So, as for a male, I have NO complaints, and I love telling all the people that went on and on about the marking,,that he does NOT DO IT. :D |
Well I agree that male or female is not really the issue. I think that if they are trained correctly they are both wonderful pets. I currently have a male and I think he is the best pet we have ever had!!! I am also planning on buying a female in February. So good luck with whatever you decide to do. I think that ywill not regret it if you were to get the male. I think that he would make an amazing companion.. :) |
I don't think the sex of the pup is an issue - it's how you raise him/her and train them. I have one of each and they are both awesome and have their own personalities. The male will bark like crazy in the morning when he has to potty and the girl stays quiet - he also barks when he wants a bone from her but other than that, they're quiet as can be! They both know the same tricks but the girl can be a little more stubborn - she will do them for sure if you have a treat for her, but if not, she knows she gets nothing so she only does it if she wants, haha! |
