Old Dog (Me); New Tricks (Our First Yorkie) Just an initial post to say that I've come here to learn. I've had lots of dogs over a lot of years, but never a Yorkie. It's pretty clear from reading your posts that Yorkies are a breed apart - cute, sweet, smart, energetic, fun and loving, but also loud and STUBBORN! I'll be back over the coming weeks with some perspective - good and not-so-good. Perhaps some of you out there can help me learn some "new tricks," that will help us add some "refinement," to our Yorkie son's behavior. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! What your yorkies name? |
Hi and welcome to YT :)! |
Congratulations! You'll get wonderful, sound advise from the folks here and it's given with genuine love and humor. Since Piper has made it her mission to train me (and I'm coming along quite nicely, thank you), I'm probably not gonna be your best resource! But I know this with absolute certainty, living with a Yorkie has got to be thee best living ever!!! "I used to look at [my dog] Smokey and think, 'If you were a little smarter you could tell me what you were thinking,' and he'd look at me like he was saying, 'If you were a little smarter, I wouldn't have to." |
Welcome to YT |
Wow! Thanks for the quick welcomes. Well, let's start at the beginning. Our Yorkie is a 15 month-old, 6 pound bundle of energy and love, named Simon. When I get a little more educated on how to get around here, I'll post a photo or two. We've had him since he was about 10 weeks old. He's AKC registered and has been neutered. He has a kennel cut and is an all-boy ragamuffin. He's getting groomed again tomorrow, after which we tell him over and over again how "handsome" he is (he loves that! LOUDLY!). Tomorrow, I'll talk a little about "school." |
