How old is this little girl? 1 Attachment(s) I posted about a little girl (Molly) my friends purchased from a person alleging she was two years old and needed re-homing due to achild entering their family? When they got her, the mammaries were swollen, which would suggest she was either ending a season or had recently had pups. The paperwork suggests she is two years old, however the color of her coat suggests she's far younger? Crystal is now two and apart from her tail, her coat is ash and her head blonde. Importantly, 'Molly's' a really healthy little soul and can't believe the good luck she has encountered to have two devoted parents who care for her every need. What do you think? Thank you |
She could be younger, but it's really hard to know, as their coat colors can vary so much regardless of age. |
My Elvis is 7 and Izzy is 6. Both still have the black coats and the head is gold although Elvis is getting a little gray. I think it has a lot to do with genetics. |
Some Yorkies do stay black most of their lives, I think. She's sure cute! |

You can't tell age by coat color. She looks like a *youngish* adult Yorkie to me. But more importantly is she or has she been spayed? I don't the swollen nipples aspect of things. It could mean she has just come out of season, or has had a litter of pups, or is even pregnant right now. So clear that up with your friends..... The spaying status..... |
I had two females stayed black all their life. Molly is a little cutie |
You can tell by the color, but on the head. As you know, they are born with black faces and a little gold above the eyes. Most will still have what they call thumbprints above the eyes, or I call it a racing stripe, which is the dark between the eyes. Since this dog doesn't have a racing stripe, I would say she is at least 2 or 3 years old. |

Oh, does the stripe go away? How interesting! Teddy is 15 months old and has his stripe! I'll be staring at him now for development progression..He already thinks I'm strange so this shouldn't bother him. I don't know how old that little dog is but she sure is cute!!!! I think it is their teeth which they normally use to make an age judgment but I don't think that technique in infallible, rather, an educated guess. |
