Is there a less expensive sub for Denamarin? It is costing me $60.00 for a one month box. The vet wants to check Daisy's liver enzymes in 3 - 4 months. Meanwhile she will be on Denamarin and her Hepatic diet daily. Her ALT is within range at 113 but ALP is 840. Normal range is 20 - 150. I thought I remembered reading here that milk thistle (or something like that) is the main ingredient in Denamarin and you can order it. But I don't know how expensive that would be or if the vet would approve. Any ideas? We now suspect that she has an allergy to chicken. Her ALP had been down to 160 on Denamarin and Hepatic diet only. Then we started adding green beans, then chicken and now her ALP went back up and she is itching. So we are eliminating chicken and green beans. |
Where are you purchasing your Denamarin? I have bought (the little blue pills, not the chews) from Amazon (the ones for dogs 12 pounds and under) from Amazon for less than $25 for a 30 day supply. Occasionally the price fluctuates a few bucks, but I buy when the price is down. You can also buy plain Milk Thistle and samE separately, but it didn't save me much from $25. |
Thanks for your response. She is taking a BIG blue pill, the size of a capsule. It would be big for me to take. She is 18 lbs, so she is taking 225 mg for 13 - 34 lbs. We are getting it from the vet. I will check Amazon. I guess you need a vet prescription for it? |
It is $37.00 on Amazon!!! Thanks!!! |
Crazy the markup the vets take, isn't it? I always check Amazon for things like that. Glad you found a decent price! Diana |
