New to this! This is my first day in YT. I have an almost 5 month yorkie and we love him! I noticed last week he has started to lose hair on his legs and they are quite skinny! I'm starting to question if my yorkie is really a yorkie? Please help!! |
Hi and welcome to YT :)! Hmmmm...he shouldn't be losing hair on his legs as yorkies don't shed. Can you post a pic? |
I'm trying to send a pic but I'm having a hard time..still trying My file is too big? |
Their legs are very skinny esp at 5 months old... Maybe just more noticeable since the hair is only falling out on the legs and the rest of the body looks fuller bc it still has hair? Anyhow sounds like maybe a nutrition issue if the hair is falling out. What are you feeding? |
:) Sorry to ask this - but is his hair actually falling out (do you see it in his brush etc.)? The reason I'm asking is at around that age, our Harry started getting lighter and lighter (starting from the paws up....!!!) I thought 'my goodness, he's starting to have chicken-look-alike legs' - but on closer inspection he was just getting paler - eventually (nearly!) all over :) |
As far as food I'm feeding him Fromm Family puppy gold that was recommended by my local pet store. |
@harrysmum.. Good question- it's not coming out in his brush! I wish I could get the picture to post so u could really see. His hair has been thick all over and now when u look at him it's like his front legs are skinny and much more noticeable. After further inspection his hair is quite lighter in color on his front legs than it has been |

A while later - Harry's front legs started going kind of darker at the roots (like he desperately needed a touch-up! :D)....now they just look weird!!! :D That's one of the reasons that I get his 'leg hair' kept longer (when he's at his groomers)...:) |
