What Do You Give Your Dogs To Chew Does anyone have a dog that chews everything and anything they can find and if so how have you dealt with it. What do you give him to distract him for doing so. My dog chews everything, water bottles, rocks, slippers cell phones, remote controls!! I am afraid one of these days he will need surgery to remove something. What is good things for them to chew> My mother and husband thinks he has ADHD. He jumps from one thing to another to another within seconds. I need a dog trainer!! |
Hi Mindy How old is your dog? Still a puppy, in the teething stage? If so I would put in the freezer some toys. I use a variety of things, kongs, rope, squeaky toy etc. I also would limit his run around space with an Xpen playpen arrangements, and give him his chew toys in there. Also look at increasing his walk time. If you have a backyard, start to play some fetch games with him. You can create an obstacle course out of household items and take him through it. Lots of treats, whoops of joy etc when he accomplishes each activity. |
This is why with puppy's it's extremely important to puppy proof your home and or use a play pen. You could try the durable nylabones. I would not use bully sticks, antlers or hymelayan chews because they can crack and break teeth. |
I have tried the nylabones and he gets pieces of it off and eats it. He has the strongest jaw for a little dog. |

My puppy loves the Himalayan chews I get him from Petsmart. It's about the only thing that keeps him occupied for 30 mins where I can watch some tv lol. They're hard and then they soften up as they chew on them. They can be kind of expensive but they're great for my teething pup. I also watch him to make sure he's actually wetting them and making them soft instead of just gnawing down on them. |
Lily loves the CET dental chews. It gives her a chew plus is good on her teeth! |

I use Bully Sticks and my puppy seems to really like them |
Are deer antlers safe for dogs to chew on? - Dr. Marty Becker You really have to be careful with hard chews like bully sticks and stuff they do break teeth. My dog was one that broke there tooth on a bully stick. Everyone told warned me but I never listened so my stubbornness caused her pain and surgery. |
