venting I just need to vent. Just found out my cousins just drop their 5 or 6 year old 6 lb male yorkie off at the shelter today. They are 7 hours from me so I can't do anything. They are posting on facebook how sad they are. My heart is just broken for the poor baby. He must be all scared and sad. I can't stop thinking about him and praying for a sweet loving family to take him home. I don't know why they got him in the first place. They adopted him as a baby and 5-6 years later they decided they don't want him..can't even take time to find him a home instead they drop him off at the shelter. I wonder if they are truly sad for him. If you are sad and love him so much like you claimed then why did you do it..could at least take the time to find him another family. |
That is so heart breaking so many years then to loose all thats familiar. Was it sick or did they move where they cant have it. Could you take it. Maybe they would hold it for you given the distance. I had two pommeranians a mom and her baby. I had the mom for a number of years. Now i was young and stupid. I gave momma to my sister in law in fla. Thinking she would be taken care of. She was never outside. A couple of years we went back down there for a visit. They had tied her outside to stay under the house in black dirt. When we pulled up and got out of the car she howeled and bark uncontrolably in excitment. Needless to say we took her back. Talk about feeling horrible i did. Breaks my heart to even talk about it. So pets do remember their families. |
They just decided they didn't have time for him. He is not sick. They never asked me and I didn't even know they were wanting to get rid of him. I would have help to find him a loving home. Just saw their facebook postings today and found out they already dropped him off at the shelter. Poor baby. |
What ***holes. Couldn't at least try a rescue? You should contact a local rescue to tell them. |
How heartbreaking. I can't even *imagine* doing this to my own babies. They're my BABIES after all! |
If you can afford to have another baby, can you contact your cousin, tell them you would like to keep that baby, see if they can give you the name of the shelter. Call the shelter tell them the story, tell them if your cousin had mentioned to you they wanted to get rid of the dog you would have taken it. Ask that they hold the dog for you as it is a 7 hour trip. I am sure the shelter would prefer the dog is kept with-in the family. I realize having more then one dog can be a burden in many ways. At one time I had 3, then had 2, but I was younger and could keep up with them. I don't know if I could do that today, besides my adopted boy does not get along with other dogs, so I realize there can be reasons you are not able to have another dog. |
I just cant imagine dropping my babies off at a shelter...its equivalent to dropping my children off at a foster home. |
Sorry, I got caught up in this give away. When ever I got a pup to me it is a life time commitment, to me it is like the wedding vow. "For better or worse, in sickness and health, till death do us part" no matter what, I would never give a pup away. |

I dont understand taking to a shelter and not trying to find a family to rehome the pup to. I just could never do that they must not have been very attached to the pup |

I don't understand it either that is why I am so affected by their decision. Wish I can take him in but can't at the moment. We have two of our own. Our little 3 lb Ninja was in similar situation, either find a home or shelter. Good thing we found the craigslist ad. I love animals and hate to see these precious animals suffer. |

I will never understand why people get dogs of any breed and then decide to just give them away. If there wasn't a shelter would they have just opened the door and let her out? If they have children I feel sorry for them if they do something wrong cause maybe they will be given away too. Sorry if this offends anyone but it is just how I feel. I hope the dog will find a furever family that will give it a good home and love it the rest of his or her life. |
