Newbie Hii I'm a first time Yorkie owner :) I got Bentley in August and he is almost 6 months old. He is 4.5 pounds and full of energy! I've been looking around on here for a while and I finally decided to join haha! Unfortunately he has some separation anxiety and I've looked around here about but I wanted some input on separation anxiety vests/sweaters and toys/comfort blankets. He does stay in a crate while I'm at work but I do come home mid day to let him out and for him to "snack" lol I know there are mixed opinions about crates but unfortunately I don't have a free room for him to roam in or I so would not use a crate lol. Thanks in advance for the input. |
Hi and welcome to YT :)! You might want to try a Thundershirt - it works for some, and not for others. I bought one on Ebay for my foster doggie and it was only $19 -- I can't tell if it really helps him or not...? As for the crating, what about trying something like this instead? It has room for a bed, toys, water/food, and a pee pad...it works really well for when you're away, but doesn't confine the pup to a super small space. |
Thank you for the suggestions! I will definitely look into those! :) |

We no longer use it during the day when we're at work and just gate him in the main living room, but we do use it at night for bedtime. It's become the routine and I think he's happier in his bed/kennel for the nighttime hours :) |
Hi there, a newbie myself, I'm on my second little man in 25 years. The little man I have now is 5 and I started looking for indoor outdoor pens for him as soon as I got him. I found the IRIS pens on Amazon. Love it, and now you can even get Different Colors. I love the pink and blues. I have 6 sets. Just found that you can get exersize pens as well, they come with no doors on them, have started replacing white with Blue. But long story short. I'm so afraid of him going out without a pen that, that is the reason for so many. They make a great outside fenced in area. He has a big yard and getting bigger. |
