Will you look at my puppy? Hi :) I posted about a week ago. I'm a first time yorkie mom! I got my little boy Reese at 8 weeks and he was around 3 lbs. he was 10 weeks yesterday and is now 4.1 pounds. I know that's huge for a yorkie. What's funny is he is "chubby" he is very short and and built small but is stalky and almost "fat" he is very healthy and has been vet checked twice since I have had him. I'm just wondering is he really pure yorkie?! I love him to pieces :) I'm going to post pictures and hope yorkie pros can tell me if he looks like a normal 10 week old yorkie? |
Well it's not allowing me to post a picture :( |
Yorkies come in all sizes. Just because he's not "standard" size doesn't mean he's not pure breed. Just more to love. My baby girl Prada is 8lbs and I was told she wouldn't be more than 5lbs. And she's pure breed |
Your pics may be too large |
There are larger yorkies so just size is not a determining factor. Since you got your pup from a non reputable breeder ( reputable breeders keep pups until 12 weeks) then anything is possible. Is her registered? If so which registry? |
.......... |
I have seen Yorkies that are quite large. My Yorkie is 6 lbs., which is about average, and people still ask if he's a "teacup". The original Yorkies, bred as ratters, were about 12 lbs. and bred down to be lapdogs. Like someone said, more to love! |
He is CKC which I know means nothing! I was able to pick him up early because mom was taken away from puppies around 6 weeks because of refusal to nurse and aggression towards puppies. She couldn't be any where near them. She was extremely stressed. I added pictures of him to my profile under the album Reese 10 weeks and changed my picture to his 10 week picture. Thoughts? I also don't mind a larger yorkie I'm just curious what your thoughts on him? Thanks :) |
I think hes very cute |
He definately looks like a yorkie....he's very cute! He's a "super sized" yorkie ;-) |
I looked at your album and he looks all yorkie to me :) -- and CUTE! |
Wish you would have had something in the picture that could have let the viewer understand better the size of Reese. Like a chair or something. He is precious. Love him no matter what his size. |
Looks just like a Yorkie to me, too. Doesn't look that large either, to me. Abigail, our first was 10 lbs. Very good healthy size. Hermione - we are looking at 5-6lbs when grown. She's only 10 months old. |
He looks like a yorky |
The Wolfman was 4lbs at 10 weeks. The vet said he would probably grow to 8-10 pounds. (He is 14 weeks now and hasn't been back to the vet yet, but he doesn't look a whole lot bigger yet. Maybe a pound bigger. |
My first yorkie was so tiny when I got her. Just weighed 12 oz. She grew to 10 lbs and was just the perfect size for us. Your Reese is so cute. You might want to shave his ears to help them "pop" up. |
Your little one is a cutie:) and looks yorkie to me also! My babies range from 3 to 7 pds one of my girls is the 7 pounder she has always been chubby and stocky too. Shes every bit yorkie with attitude to match and she has all the yorkie features. Just weighed more at the beginning than my others and still does! |
Thank you :) I was wondering about his ears. They are just not standing. They want to but they can't. Shaving helps? Will the groomers do this? He is only 10 weeks. Is that to early to have him to a groomers? We have one that we take our golden retriever to and we love them so I feel comfortable doing so. |
I took a picture of him next to my container of coffee! It's a larger container (3lbs) from Costco. It's 8.5 inches tall. I will try to post here. If it's to large it will be in my album. |
he looks 100% yorkie to me He looks 100% yorkie to me also, and he looks a bit large in a very healthy way - not oversized. He's sweet! |
Well, even after looking at the picture with the coffee (which is my brand, btw and I'll be over later for a cup), he still doesn't look "large" to me. Haha. He looks adorable Yorkiesized. |
No worries Your baby is beautiful! I feel if they are really small there tends to be more health problems. CKC is OK too! I got my pup at 8 weeks because she was weened off mom for quite some time and the breeder felt they were ready. She is smart and well behaved. Enjoy your pup and don't over think things. This site has good info but I find it tends to stress me out with all of the one sided thinkers. As long as you give your pup a loving home, he will be perfect! enjoy |
Your puppy is just adorable, looks 100% yorkie to me. All my past pups were 10 to 13 lbs, my last girl also now past weighed in at 17 lbs. My adopted boy is 12 lbs. I love the bigger yorkie. |
Is he the one in the profile pic. He is adorable. My yorkie is 9 months old and 9.5 pounds. It all depends on their parents. His mother was 8 and dad was 4. He is short and stocky too. |

1 Attachment(s) I think Reese is adorable!! Doesn't look chubby to me, just healthy. My new morkie puppy Mac is short, and compact. But I wouldn't say chubby! Your reese is built alot like Mac. I like his little short legs! Plus, I'm short. We have to stick together! lol Here's a picture of Mac. He will be 11 weeks old tomorrow! Excuse the blur. Sitting still is not his thing. |
