First Dog Show Went to my first real dog show this week in Ridgefield, Washington and loved it. Met some beautiful dogs and some beautiful show people. It is all very overwhelming but I am ready to go for it. I am an "all in" kind of gal so me and the baby are jumping into the deep end. Hope we won't be swimming with sharks, lol. We will be entering our first dog show in January coincidentally on Mia's 6 month birthday. Just planning to have fun and soak up all the information I can like a sponge and will try to do better and better at each show. Will keep you all posted with all of our crazy adventures as we go. Still can't call my sweet princess a bitch and was told I would not be a real show person until I can so I will keep you updated on how that goes too. |
That's awesome to hear! Thanks for the experience sharing. Sounds like it could be a little addictive. :) This is the pup you purchased from Deb Sillers of Amazing Yorkies in Oregon? That's wonderful! I wish you all the best! |
Very exciting! Have fun! |
I hope it is a good experience for you and Mia. Good luck. |
I wish you all the luck in the world for your first show. If anything the experience is just gonna be a fun one for you so have a great time, Im glad you enjoyed the dog show and it has inspired you to try your hand at it |
I want to wish you the best of luck in your showing adventure. It should be lots of fun. I do hope you share pictures of her soon. |
Good Luck, have fun and best of all, get those blue ribbons! :-) My son and I are in 4-H and we show sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks and rabbits... we even go to the big ARBA rabbit shows.... remember to bring your own water from home for the puppy, different cities can have different tasting water, snacks for the puppy and you, and of all things, just have fun!!! |
Sounds amazing. Very happy you had such fun. Good luck. |

How wonderful for you! Will you be showing her, "handling" her yourself (not sure of the terminology)? It will be exciting to follow your progress and hear about all of your adventures. I admire and respect your bravery at trying something for the first time! Have great fun! |

This is amazing. Have you learned how to groom a show coat? I know that is a major hurdle when dealing with the long haired show dog. All that wrapping. I grew up helping my relatives that were into showing dogs but they did not breed Yorkies or any small dogs. I learned enough about the business to know I was not cut out for it. Later I decided to show Himalayan cats and that was an experience in itself. A lot of work but a lot of love as well. But showing both cats and dogs can be a high competition "hobby." There are people that want to win at all costs. There are also some very fine people who do their best for the breed. It takes a while to distinguish who is who. It sounds like you have a great mentor so I hope you stick close to her and learn all you can. Best of wishes to your and your show girl! |
oooh, I wish you luck :D I can imagine you'll get all kinds of tips or learn what's great for coat shine and manageability :D |
Good luck! |
