help with pancreatitis I want to pass on info I learned from my Yorkie Spud diagnosed with pancreatitis. My vet had me do an ultrasound on Spud, he was vomiting and terrible diahrrea. Now he can only have tilapia and quinoa. Plus his meds-cerenia, prednisone, metrodiazole and some Pepcid ad for his tummy. That dog has really turned around and is not showing any problems. We will need to carefully watch his diet. I hope this helps someone out there dealing with this awful intestinal disease. Do not feed Yorkies anything too fatty. It can bring it on. I gave him Costco chicken vet said is fatty. Watch that stuff. |
Really happy that you've found a solution for your kiddo and that he has turned around and is feeling so great :). |
dog Thank you so much! I have an excellent vet who takes an aggressive approach. You know how much we love our Yorkies and it broke my heart to see my Spud so sick. |
I don't know why the dog can only have tilapia and quinoa. I have a dog w/ two-time acute pancreatitis and he can eat any lean meat or fish and any low residue carbohydrate. White meat chicken or white turkey and very lean meats comparable to tilapia. I would trim any fat you see off the chicken. I hope you are adding supplements to the diet if this is going to become his regular diet. I'm sorry he got pancreatitis, it's terrible :( |
Man imafraidto feed boo anything. Boy i wonder if a dogs pancretitus is as bad as humans. Ive had it twice no food for a week in the hospital. |
