New to YT My name is "Ollie" and I'm new to YT. I'm a lil over 4 months old and my mom is concerned cause I'm a lil over 7.4 lbs. She hopes I don't end up being a 10 lb. Yorkie. I tend to have a cottony-wooly coat and am looking for ideas, suggestions, products to maintain it. |

She's a fit, lithe yorkie, just bigger at 10lbs. I've really come to enjoy her size. She's a sturdier pup so there's less worries about injuries from jumping on furniture, etc. And, there's more to snuggle with. ZoE is a great little heat generator, and I'm not worried about crushing her in my sleep at night. And shes still small enough to pop her in a purse carrier and take her places with me. |
KazzyK810, Thank you for the encouragement! I love this chubby guy, just wish he would quit all the biting and nipping. He's got plenty of chewy toys and I even tried the bitter no chew, it don't seem to phase him. I understand the puppy phase he's going through, My hands are bloody and scabbed.....guess I need to put on a pair of leather gloves...lol |
One of the best things I learned from one of my dog training books when my mini-schnauzer started that nipping/biting at 12 wks of age was to say "OUCH" very loudly & jerk your hand away from the dog. It cured her right away! |
Welcome to YT Ollie, all my past 4 yorkies weights ranged from 10 to 17 lbs, my last girl was the 17 pounder, she lived to be 17 y/o. I love the bigger yorkies, they are more sturdy babies, and more yorkie to cuddle and love up. My adopted (first lil boy) weighs in at 12 lbs and that is small to me since my last beauty was 17 lbs. I have no advise on the puppy biting, when my babies were "babies" I would roughhouse them, hard play, hard bites lol, I loved it, never discouraged it lol and yes, my hands were always scratched / bit up lol. They out grew the baby bites, when they were a bit older if they bit hard I would correct them wit the command words of "no biting". Enjoy these baby days, they grow so fast. |
