Size at 6 months? How much bigger did your yorkie get after 6 months? I have been tracking Lady"s weight on a yorkie weight calculator since 10 weeks and she has stayed on target to be less then 5 lbs but I'm just curious others experience how much more they grew after 6 months. |
this is the place I'v been tracking her weight. My Yorkshire Terrier puppy should grow to 4lb 9oz :: Find out how big your Yorkshire Terrier puppy will grow - Puppy Weight Estimates |
Growth differs from one pup to the next. My boys are full brothers from different litters and had growth spurts late: 11 months. It is in their genes. They grew in spurts from the time they were pups. Usually Yorkies are full grown by about 8 months, length and height. They develop muscle into their second year which will add to overall weight. |

Roxy had about 3 growing spurts after she was 6 months. About the time I'd think she was done growing, she'd grow some more. She topped out at 10 lbs... which is twice what I thought I wanted her to be. Turns out I love her 10 lb size. You just never know for sure in advance. |
I'm just curious as I had no size expectations. I have smaller kids so I was originally thinking bigger = sturdier but I love her petite size lol! |
My Barney weighed around 4.5 pounds at that age. At almost 2 he is just under 6 pounds. His height didn't change but he's a little longer now. |
Cali was about 2-3lbs at that age. At 1 year she is around 4lbs, and her vet says she doesn't expect her to get any bigger but who knows. |
Lola was 5lbs, she's 7lbs now. Her clothes from last winter are shorter and tighter this year. |
Baxter was 2.3 pounds at 6 months, now he's 4 years old and a healthy 2.9 pounds. I think it mostly just depends on genetics. |

While its harder on my shoulder to pop her in a purse and sneak her places, I just love her size for snuggling with. She is such a warm lil snugglebug in winter. |
Dex is exactly 7lbs (just weighed him) at 6 1/2 months and I expect he'll probably put on a couple more pounds before he's done. He's gotten quite leggy in the past couple of months and he's bound to grow into that. heheh...more of a teapot dawg here than a dainty little thing! |
Jackson was nearly 12lbs by 6 months and stayed that one til a little over a year and sprouted to 16lbs between 1-2 years. |
Yorkies are considered full grown at 6-8 mths, but may have growth spurts around 10mths...and may fill in during the first couple years...that's been my experience w/ my 3. |
Mine filled in some more after a year. They definitely got bigger after 6 months, but were mostly done growing at 8 months and just filled in more after that. |
I tracked Gunners weight and at 12 weeks he charted to be around 4.12oz which is is right now at just over 1 year. If I keep him at a good weight (5lbs or less), he is perfect. So, I think the charts are pretty accurate. MeSo at 12 weeks is charting at less than 4lbs, and I believe it, she is so tiny and has gained little weight since she came to live with us, even though she is not skinny by any means. She is a very durable little girl, more so than Gunner was at this age. |
Teddy weighed 3lbs@8 months and 3lbs 13oz at one year. I moved him from puppy food to adult food and he went up to 4lbs 5oz (on a fat day) in one month! He is still very lean and small. I would say that you really can't tell until they have moved on to adult food how big they will get because they lose their puppy fat from the puppy food and start to build muscle from the protein in the adult food. That was my experience, anyway. |
We feed Fromm Four Star Grain Free and it is for all stages so we won't change food when she gets older so not sure that would apply here. |
