I am such an overprotective idiot
 

Okay so last night I started noticing Dutch kept pawing at her mouth. Keep in mind she had been acting just fine, she ate dinner, bullied the cat and barked at her reflection for 5 minutes. It was basically a normal evening.

I go upstairs to the bathroom and come back noticing her having issues with her mouth. So I looked in her mouth and I see this huge white mass in her mouth. I''m like what the heck is this? Oh lord what did she get into? So I go and try to pull it out of her mouth but I couldn't get it out. So now I'm thinking maybe it's caught up in her teeth but no that wasn't it either.

So now I am slowly going into panic mode. Because I'm thinking OMG it's a tumor.:D My baby has a tumor in her mouth:eek:. So I immediately call the emergency vet and I am talking so fast she had to calm me down. So then she asked me how was she acting. I was like well she doesn't seem like she's in any pain, in fact she is acting normal other than pawing at her mouth. So she asked me a couple of more questions and that's when I said I can get a picture and email you. I'm like this just appeared out of nowhere because I give her the dental gel and I've never noticed anything unusual in her mouth.

When I looked in her mouth again, it was gone! I looker at her bully stick I knew exactly what happened. She had been sucking on a bit of piece of her bully stick and she managed to swallow it. When I told the vet, she just laugh but I felt like an idiot. If it wasn't for the vet technician calming me down and asking all the right questions, I've would rush her to the emergency vet and spent 125.00 on a piece of a bully stick that she had been sucking on.

I'm just thankful she didn't choke so now I have to add that to the list of things to be mindful of. I usually take them away when they get to worn out but apparently she had a hiding place I didn't know about. I tell ya it never ends.

I feel you! MJ was pawing at his face and frantic so I rushed to the emergency vet at 2am and yelled "he's choking!!!! Help!!!"

....turns out he had a loose baby tooth that was bothering him...

I don't believe there is such a thing as overprotective idiot where our babies are concerned. Crazy love, maybe.

LOL!!! Believe me, I've had my moments, too.....

The most embarrassing, when he was a pup, I had never had a male dog before. Well when I first got him he didn't have "balls" - I guess they hadn't dropped yet? haha... well one day, I suddenly noticed something new on him and thought he had a tumor growing out near his butt hole!! :rolleyes::p I was like WTF is this?! Thank god I didn't take him to the vet. I think I googled or looked here on YT :eek:

I was concerned that Teddy's testicles hadn't dropped at around 5 months old and I said all panicky in front of my husband and teen, "Maybe Teddy's a girl??!" My teenager says, "But, he has a penis?"

I see love and concern for your baby, over protective is a good thing. I have always watched my babies like a hawk, rush off to ER many a time over the years, my vet call me over protective, who cares lol. They have no voice, cannot tell you whats going on, always better to be safe then sorry.

I rushed my former girl to the emergency vet because she was not acting herself and had blood in her urine. Yeah. She was in heat. Who knew?

Someone should write a book about all the Yorkie funnies. We need this stuff to balance so many sad stories. High maintenance pups but soooo worth it!

ugh, I know this feeling all too well. I have lost lots of sleep whenever my girl cries/yelps until I learned not all of it was from pain or injury but from not getting what she wanted or she's begging. Funny thing is my Dad has gotten to do the same thing as well. We both would get up/wake up to check on her when we think she hurt herself, cause she's such a dainty drama queen, it doesn't really take much (I petted her firmly when i first got her and she yelped in "pain" ;_; ..) She's better about being tender/sensitive now, but still it don't take much for her to get upset over something when it doesn't go her way X_x She's a very sweet girl, but get in the way of her having her treat (while she has it) and she turns into a little devil :p Good thing she's not so bad when it's something that isn't suppose to be a treat (like random papers, plastic or other things she somehow manages to get into her mouth >_<)
Interesting thing is at 6 months and being the size of my smaller/older jack russell (who's almost smaller than her), she's not big on jumping off the couch even though she's big enough now (she's had a traumatic experience or two before as a baby, but mostly just falling over on herself on a few inches X_x) so she usually whines/cries for someone to take her down. If there's a pile of blankets or cushion she'll jump down on that, but otherwise she's very hesitant. Every so often she'll get down herself, but mostly wants someone to help. Same thing with getting up on the couch, she's big enough to jump, but doesn't seem to know how to jump up or is too afraid to. Thinking to get her some stairs and when it's warmer take her to an agility park to help her learn to jump up and down.
