Does your yorkie drool in his/her sleep?
 

Disgusting!

I've been on the computer tonight posting away as well as chatting and Cooper has been on my lap sleeping. He insisted on being on me tonight. He's been really clingy ever since he was neutered a few months ago. I think its his feminine side coming out!

Well . . . Cooper was sleeping hard. I even thought I heard him making lil' noises like he was chewing. I got up from my chair to go find the dogs' grooming brush for a post I was making and my pajama leg was wet where his head was!

Does your yorkie drool when he/she sleeps or is Cooper an oddball?

Just wondering.


edited to add: I just checked the hair near his mouth and it is WET!! EWWWWWW . . . .

I've never noticed Maddie drooling unless she is nauseated and needs to throw up. I hope Cooper isn't getting sick! It will be interesting to see if we have other droolers on YT!

I've never seen Gus drool. But we once had a lab mix who did.

No Pippa never does that :D

KimMee only drools over our food or after she has been licking her liver paste off of her kong. :D

No mine dont do that but Jewels did when she was a puppy.

No drooling but Mellie snores and Mac farts in his sleep. I would rather have the drool.

You wanna talk DROOL.... my inlaws used had a Saint Bernard. He would shake his head and the drool would fly!!! EEEEEEEWWWWWWW!!!

And Kimberley - my husband and his Eskie, Fiona, can raise the roof sometimes!! I get all POd because they're sleeping so sound but keeping me awake!

Since I posted this, Cooper has spent an entire day at the vet hospital. He woke up yesterday morning and his entire chest was wet from drooling and 1/2 of his body looked as though he was sweating. He had been in bed with me and was on top of the covers so it wasn't from excessive heat. They checked him over really well and only found two small cuts on his tongue. They have no idea what/why this is happening. We're hoping that he may have eaten something outside that upset his system and is going through withdrawal type symptoms. He seems a bit better today.

I was really, really concerned for him yesterday.

He was administered anesthesia twice -- once to be able to do a very thorough exam and xrays (to rule out that he swallowed something sharp due to the cuts on his tongue) and once for him to be scoped down his throat to be sure no plant material was lodged there causing a reaction.

He's acting his normal self today but still woke up with drool this morning again.

I'll update this in a few days as he continues on antibiotics to be sure the cuts don't get any more ulcerated that currently are and something else for his intestines in the event that whatever is causing this has not passed through his entire system yet if it was something he ingested.

Has Cooper always drooled? Or has he just been drooling as of late? I'm glad to hear he hasn't ingested something dangerous! I haven't heard of that much drooling either by a Yorkie. I really hope he's back to normal soon.

As far as I know, it began the night of my original post. Cooper does sleep with my daughter but I think she would have realized it if it had happened before then.

When I say he wakes up and his chest is wet, it isn't just a little wet.

I'm really hoping he's having withdrawals from something he may have been chewing on outside.

Poor baby! I thought it was just a little drool and was something he usually did... I'm sure he'll be fine, Lisa. You're keeping a close eye on him.

I just read this thread and from just reading the first one I was thinking he might be sick.

My Buffy has a heart murmur and on bad days when she has a lot of liquid build up on her chest she will drool in her sleep and a runnie nose, but no chest swet.

I hope what ever caused this, passes fast and he is well soon. :getwellso

By the way everyone it doesn't hurt to have a First Aid Book for Dogs on hand and read thru it when you can.
