Check out this.. Dog Dental Care |
The best time i choose to clean my puppy teeth is before food..Before feeding is another good opportunity, so a meal becomes a reward for a successful cleaning. Whats your timing? |

Well, strangely, my vet (who specializes in small breeds but his passion is the YT) told me today that brushing does nothing for the dogs teeth apart from prolong the need for a professional cleaning which should be done regularly under gas and local anesthetic. So, his advice to me today was to not bother brushing Teddy's teeth and to not think that "dental chews" do anything for him apart from prolong the time required between cleaning and entertain him! I'll give more updates re: the visit after the weekend but I found this interesting!! Not the advice I expected. |
Bailey has her teeth cleaned once a month. There's an animal dental service that comes to our local vet office. They do not use anesthesia. It's all laser. The first visit was $100, but if you come monthly, it's $20 thereafter. So affordable I couldn't resist. She's been going since she's 1.5 and she's 7.5! I'm always told by vets she has the best yorkie teeth they've ever seen! |
I was very laxed in brushing their teeth till I had to pay a huge dental bill and the Vet. stressed that I brush their teeth "every" night. My husband (bless him) and I take turns so that it won't be so difficult to stick with this. After the brushing, we rub Maxi/Guard oral cleansing gel on the teeth. |
I brush every morning. Wash faces brush teeth then comb. That way I don't forget. I brush on the gumline away gentle. I don't spend to much time but Mokis teeth are white no tater.. Winnie she's teething but still brush everyday just the teeth. She's in training. Moki will let me do what I want. He was trained from 16 weeks also. IME start early and consistence. Once they get gum disease you will always fight because it hurts |
1 Attachment(s) brushing teeth saves them. Moki always smiles when the tooth brush comes....Probably wants to bite my fingers off??? |
Once. I did it once. I have scars. Never again. I have an 80 lb dog that will let me brush his teeth regularly. In fact he loves it. Teek on the other hand felt that I was trying to kill him. You know when you take a cat and try to dip it in a pan of water? Yeah, I would rather do that than even attempt to mess with Teek's teeth again. He is so laid back and lets us do almost anything to him, just not that. Not only do I have physical scars, I have emotional ones from that incident. Worst 3 minutes of this entire year. |
Winnie started with ~10 second brush. Now ~30seconds. I only brush Mokis teeth for ~60-80 seconds. Doesn't take much. But If I see stuff I do it longer. Start slow |
