I don't know what to do!!!! I was on the phone and stepped away for mere seconds. I came back and she had eatten the meat and cheese off of an old slice of pizza on the table (roomate). She not only ate the old meat and cheese but ripped into a bag of the crushed red pepper. What should I do?? She is playing like normal, just drinking a lot of water. She didn't want her treat either because I'm guessing her tongue is hurting. Will she throw up the meat and cheese and pepper or can I give her something? |
I'm not sure about what you can do, but Plato did that once and had really a really really bad case of the runs. So just be prepared. Sorry I couldnt be of more help girlie. |
Make sure her anal area is trimmed and get ready just in case! Sorry to be a bit graphic but . . . after smelling one of my three just now and trying to figure out if one had gas or had crapped in my office, I found poop on Carter's nice long hair. Seems he had a slightly loose stool and I ended up having to give him a partial bath (had just bathed him about 3 or 4 hours earlier!). Guess what I did after that partial bath . . . . took all three babies to my area that I groom them and gave them a little rear end trim! Better safe than have to clean that kinda poop from one of my babies again soon! ;) |
Thanks guys, I just can't believe it. She's NEVER jumped on the table, she knows she's not allowed to touch the table. Yes, I should have put the pizza in the garbage yesterday but you know how it is when you just forget. I didn't think she'd eat the meat and the red peppers. I can tell her poor little tongue hurts. What a mean mommy :( |
Give her a little pepto bismol in case her stomach starts to act up. When Gracie had diarrhea once, vet recommended just a teaspoon of it. SHE HATED IT! So, make sure you get it way in the back of her mouth and close her mouth to make sure she swallows it. BLESS HER HEART!!! She wanted to try some! Rebel ate picante sauce once. licked it then licked his nose...but then again, he's a garbage disposal! :D |
If possible give her some pepto-bismol or something similar, and do not let her eat any food. I was at the vet yesterday and he told me in the case of an emergency do as I stated above. If you have an eyedropper or something similar, just squirt the pepto to the back side of her mouth to prevent choking. It will also help with any tummy upset. Janell |
TXshopper, I must have been typing at the same time you were. I had to get up for a few minutes and didn't look to see if anyone else posted, guess great minds think alike! |
A thought. It is known that when one eats peppers and needs to tone it down, you eat dairy products to absorb the oils from the peppers that were deposited in the mouth so that they can be taken on down to the stomach and not burn the mouth anymore. Knowing that water and oil do not mix, letting the little one drink lots of water (which we all know she wants to do because her little mouth is on FIRE!) isn't really going to solve anything other than cooling it down a bit. My thought is this. Wonder if you were to let her have a little bit of peanut butter or something that would coat her mouth just a bit and help to absorb lots of those oils that are in her mouth and let those nasty oils get on down to her stomach? What kinds of horrible things would happen from that? Side note...my dad when he was a child (he's a pharmacist now! hehehe) once bit into a hot pepper on his parents farm and took off to the house running! When my grandmother found him, he was standing in front of the refridgerator with a stick of butter in his mouth! :p THAT'S where this "old wives tale" came from. FYI! :) |
Well it's been a couple of hours and nothing. She seems to be feeling better. I had no pepto to give her. DO you think she could still vomit or have runny poop? I feel like such a bad momma :( |
I don't have any advice...pepto sounds like a good plan though! I just wanted to say I hope your little one gets through this okay. Sometimes they can eat stuff and it doesn't bother them at all...hopefully this will be one of those times! You're not a bad mommy...from what I've seen posted by you...you're a very responsible, caring mommy! Hugs to you! |
Thanks for all of the encouragement and advice. I think my little itty bitty has an iron tummy. She didn't vomit or even have runny stooll or anything. I did find peppers in her poop..poor baby. I feel so much better knowing she passed it. thanks guys. |
LOL...little piggy !! :D I'm so glad she's ok - Next time she's probably gonna ask for a beer to go with her food ...so watch out for that ! |
She might have some very bad runny poo for a while. Just be sure to keep her well hydrated and keep an eye on her. I'm put her in her pen or crate for awhile so you can keep a good close eye on her. |
:lol tears Quote:
I'm glad she didn't get sick. Mac actually eats the hot peppers out of the garden and loves them. I had to put a little fence around to keep him out. |
