Bark Guard gun It worked! Finally received my "gun" and tried it out this morning. I had my husband ring the bell and they went off as usual. I said, "no barking" and pushed the button. Immediately they looked at me and stopped barking. My girl barked again and I aimed at her and fired. She shut up. I hope this continues. I don't mind barking at squirrels, birds, rabbits or whatever they see from the window but the barking frenzy when someone rings just has to stop. My boy maltese is aggressive with the barking at the door and I am hoping this stops with the gun. |

Can you tell me the name of it... thanks! |
Bark Genie by First Alert. One of the posters wrote about this gun last week and I ordered it. I think her post was titled something like bark stun gun. She has a link. |

We got the petsafe version delivered a couple of days ago from Chewy, out of stock now. PetSafe Collarless Ultrasonic Remote Trainer System Quick amazing results though I have only used it a few times. Now I just aim whatever is handy at her and give her the no bark command. Phone or tv. control does the same thing :D |
Thanks... I'll check it out! Looks like they have it at Walmart for $18. Pretty good price....if it works! |
Are both of these products safe to use? Should I use this to stop barking or should I just train to stop barking instead? |

Ali is doing really well on walks and in public but she is on a leash so easy to correct. I pick her up and put 2 fingers on her nose and tell her, "no barking!" At first it was exhausting but now it's pretty easy. When I see someone coming I remind her to leave it and she ignores people if they ignore her. Skateboards, motorcycles, rolling backpacks=forget about it=hopeless. |
As I said earlier I will only use it at the door with the frenzy barking. Regular barking is ok with me. They never bark on walks or at other people or dogs - they are very good to take out. |
Oh this sounds amazing! I can pretty much get Draco to stop barking pretty quickly when I'm in the house. And even though I know it's only excitement I've been looking for away to stop him when I'm arriving home from work at about 4-6am, sometimes he's just get really excessive and I don't want to wake neighbors because I live in an apartment so this sounds like it'd be worth a try. Also if he's on the ground and we're at a store he'll bark for certain people attention and sometimes even when he's in the pouch. So I'm glad to found out about this. A trainer recommended Sentry Stop That! Spray, (it worked for him to stop barking while I'm at home) but I'd much rather push a button in my pocket than pull out little spray can in the middle of the store. Also I'm looking Amazon, there are mixed reviews about the Bark Genie. But Dog Dazer and PetZoom have a bit more and better reviews so I'll probably get one of them. Though if Stop That! spray worked and had 3 stars I'm sure this will work for Draco. |
I bought it today at Walmart and our first test did not go so well. The neighbor's dog was out in the back yard and they always go crazy when she it out there. So I let them out (in there blocked of area) and they of course started barking. I pushed the button and they looked at me for a split second and continued barking. I pushed the button like 4 times and the barking did not stop. I will try it again and hope for better results. |
I hope the thing works those on the phone got boos attention in the house but did nothing when barking outside. |

Petzoom is wonderful and it works, my DaVinci is turning 9 in January and he's a yapper, he barks like crazy at anything and everything on the TV and it's maddening. We have tried everything to curb his barking inside and nothing works until my friend brought over her Petzoom, a few times using it and he stopped barking at the TV. It seems to bother my cats though which may be a blessing because it will stop them from going after my 4 month old Yorkie. I don't want my puppy picking up DaVinci's habit of ocd barking. I haven't purchased one yet but I'm ordering one from Amazon now. I don't mind barking when it's for a purpose but when DaVinci won't stop barking and listen to any commands once he gets going the Petzoom is the only thing that works. |
