Heated bed My girl has a lot of miles on her, now it is getting cold. I would like her to spend her last years in comfort. Anyone have any ideas which are good heated beds? Thanks! |
Hi! Welcome to YT :) I don't have a heated doggie bed, but I hear you about old bones liking heated beds. I have a heated mattress pad and it is amazing! ZoE loves snuggling in bed on the warmth at night when I turn the house heating down. Hopefully someone else has had experience with heated fog beds. |
Hi, welcome to Yorkietalk! I have not used a heated bed but I have looked at them at Petsmart. They were kind of expensive, maybe around $80.00 for a medium sized bed. My pups are getting older too. This might be the year I pick one up. I saw a flat cushion that was not as expensive as the actual beds. if you decide to get one, let us know how it works out. |
I have a heating pad that I lay under a blanket in guinness' bed for him. I put it on low and he loves it :) Cannot speak to a heated bed but sounds cozy! |

If you microwave these, put your hand on it beforehand to make sure that it is not too hot. I believe that it its supposed to be microwaved for 30 seconds to 1 minute. I would recommend putting it in a thin pillowcase and then tying it up tight to possibly try insulating the heat in there for a little longer. I don't generally like the plug-in heated beds because there might be an electric shock, or the power could go out, or the yorkie might start chewing on it, etc., It is more of a risk with curious puppies than older yorkies, so it really would depend on how your yorkie is. |
I found some cat beds that I got my babies for Christmas. They're small so it works and they were only about $30 each! :) |
We let Billi sleep in bed with us, but since she gets cold easily I have one of those small heating pads that I leave on for her at the foot of the bed. She uses it during the day and night, like if the ac is on too much in the summer. We have a little boy coming next month and I plan to use another heating pad on his bed until he's potty trained and can sleep with us. Love the heating pads! $12 each and can use it anywhere! |
I know that places like PetSmart and other pet supply outlets sell heated inserts that you can put in a regular pet bed and cover with a blanket. It looks a lot like a heating pad. Drs Foster and Smith have this heated bed: K&H Thermo Snuggly Sleeper | Heated Pet Beds at DrsFosterSmith.com Some places have cuddle beds that are like a soft fluffy cave they can go into for warmth. I have one for Gracie that she uses when no one can hold her but at night time her favorite place to go when she is cold is under the covers with me. She has been like this since she was a puppy. Yorkies have no undercoat for insulation so they tend to get chilled easily. |
This is Gracie's bed. It comes in various colors and patterns. Cuddle Cup Cream Lynx Dog Bed by Susan Lanci Some terriers love to burrow and these work well for them. |
I have never used any heated beds. |
