oscar OR dremel nail grinder???? hello ya'll, since my two yorkshire babies absoultely HATE getting their nails trimmed by those regular trimmers, thinking about getting nail grinders. for those who have purchased both or just have an opinion, which one should i consider buying? oscar OR dremel nail grinder? thanks <333 |
nails The problem with nail cutting that most Yorkies hate is, we are holding their foot in a firm grip and they are not able to get away. The actual snipping of the nail does not bother them unless it is too short and it is over so fast. I have tried a file and also a dremel. It took longer and they were having fits..a 60 second nail clipping turned into 15 mins of screaming and twisting. Perhaps other groomers have better luck, I did not..some hated nails done no matter how I did it...and with Charlotte, the chicken of all chickens, I have thought about biting them off myself..she is awful..been through "child birth" and screams if she sees the nail clippers. |
One of my Yorkies is also awful with nail clipping, for him, it's the pressue of the clippers that he hates. The nail grinder has been a life saver. I actually have an Oster (sp?) which I love. I can't use it on my other Yorkie because her coat is too long and it would be a disaster if her hair got caught in it. If you are going to use one, you'll need an old stocking or sock to push then nails through first, if your dog gets a hair caught in the device, she wont soon forget the experience and you'll be right back where you started. |
nails You have had good experinces with it..perhaps it is the pressure of the clipper that Charlotte hates. I guess I perfer the clipper because I can do it so fast and she is happy again. I might try the grinder again if I can find it packed away..thanks. |
