is mia showing signs of heat cycle? My baby is turning 9 months on the 9th of Nov. Ever since I got her she's always humping her toys which honestly bothers me so I take the big toys away for a while because of the that, idk how to teach her to stop. She is constantly drinking alot of water and peeing more then usual. She licks herself more then the usual and ive notice her niples have popped up a lil bit. Maybe im just being over dramatic about these signs but after seeing her vulva a bit larger. The little bit of skin Below her vulva looks swollen and reddish. The tip of her vulva is reddish aswell. I would take a pic and show u guys but I dont think its appropriate lol I did want to spay her when I got her but after some research and close friend discussion about this matter. I decided that after shes around 2 yrs old im going to breed her ONCE AND ONLY ONCE because i plan on keeping one or maybe 2 her childs AND HAVE THEM FIXED ASAP aswell as all her babies will be fixed before anyone gets one ! Im no breeder and having to breed dogs is dangerous and comes with too much responsibility I DO NOT want to put myself through it more then once in my lifetime. After that MIA WILL get SPAYED. And if by any chance anyone thinks im doing it for money im not. Im not rich but ill be sure interviews will be held before I even hand one of my babies to ANYONE... |
I don't know if these are signs of heat as my kiddos are all fixed. My girl, Pfeiffer, humps her donut bed, and I'm fine with it. My 2 boys have a "lover dog" they have personal dates with ;)...and I don't stop it. It really doesn't bother me at all - as long as they don't hump humans, I'm fine with it as it seems to be a behavior they find comforting somehow. As far as breeding, gosh, I so advise against this. You stated yourself how dangerous it is and that is SO true. Even the most experienced breeders experience tragedies. Are you prepared to lose your girl and/or the puppies? Bc it could happen. If it were me, I'd just allow this precious one to be a loved pet and I wouldn't put her through a whelping. |
Personally, I believe that breeding should be left to the professionals. You obviously have no experience in the field and there are many complications that are involved in whelping small dogs in particular. Your pup has no need of being bred. She will be a happy, healthy pet if you spay her and don't subject her to being bred. I am assuming that your friend has an unaltered male and also wants to breed. Proper breeding means knowing the genetic background of your dog and what lines will mesh in any particular breeding. Unless both dogs have excellent breeding behind them and are great examples of the breed AND have the right genetic mix you could be creating a genetic nightmare. Yes, it sounds like she is in heat. You are going to have to be very careful about taking her outside. He urine will attract unaltered male dogs from miles away. You also need to watch for any infection of the uterus during her heat cycles. Pyometra can kill your female very quickly. Watch for inactivity and fever and drinking more water than usual. |

Humping has more to do with excitement than sexual activity. |
