First grooming session? Hi there! Newbie here. I have a 5 month old adorable ball of fluff known as Scamp. I've trimmed the hair above his eyes so he can see clearly but when should he have his first professional groom? My groomer says 6 months but I'm worried that his coat will be really long if I leave him another month. Any suggestions? Thanks x |
I had Jeter's first grooming done at 12 weeks. DaVinci's first grooming was at 17 weeks. Jeter had his second grooming done yesterday and he did very well. I've had the same groomer for 8 1/2 yrs and he's very patient, soft spoken, and gentle with the puppy while he's grooming. My DaVinci was so difficult when he was a puppy, he would scream and bite but my groomer worked with him and after a while he didn't bite or scream when being groomed. I call NY groomer the dog whisperer, LOL. |
Oh yeah, welcome to Yorkie Talk. Good luck with your baby. |
I don't take any of my kiddos to a groomer as I don't feel it's totally safe...so I just do mine at home. You could either do yours at home and/or take him in when he is finished with his shots. |
Teddy was six months old@his first groom but this was because the groomer I use has a 2 month waiting list. I made sure that my groomer didn't use cage dryers. She's located in Wigston and does the coats in the Crufts shows. Let me know if you're near Leicester and I'll pm you the details. Otherwise, just make sure whoever you use doesn't advocate the use of cage dryers. Lots of dogs have lost their lives to these needless contraptions and Pets at Home DO use them. |
