Beanie has started getting "mouthy" again and I had to use it on her. I think she is going to need a little reminder every once in awhile. Please let me know how it goes once you get it!!! |
Wow, just saw this thread for the first time & have already ordered it from Walmart.com. (Pick it up at your local store & there's no shipping added.) I'll report back. Thanks for the info!! |
I think it works! I just got mine and didn't even have the batteries in it yet. Hubby was getting something out of the shed and the dog next door came roaring up to the fence barking and growling, like he always does. I ran and put batteries in the gadget and aimed it through the slats in the fence. He IMMEDIATELY turned and walked away and didn't come back. That has never happened before. I am stunned. We have had this headache of a dog acting like this for the last couple of years. It is the reason we had to put up our privacy fence in the first place, because the dog acts so vicious and I am scared to death for my babies. Even though we have asked nicely, the neighbors have not done a thing to stop the racket. OP THANK YOU for posting this!!! I am a believer! |

I KNOW!! I felt the same way when I got it and used it. I was telling everyone about it and they would look at me with this look, like ya so what, big deal. I was like, no you don't understand what my life started to be like with my dog going NUTS when she saw a dog and that spilled over into everything she saw when we were in the car. At least I knew that the other dogs couldn't get into the car when she was going crazy, but when we would go for walks and do it, I would get really scared sometimes because she didn't give a crap if it was a freakin 2 inch big puppy or a giant pit bull or other huge dog. Her behavior just about took over my life and believe me, I tried EVERYTHING to stop her. Nothing worked until the Doggie Stun Gun, aka Bark Genie. ahahahahahahahaha |

She started her crap today when we were at the park. I forgot to take the Doggie Stun Gun out of the car and I had no way to stop her. And this was a big pitbull puppy that she decided to go nuts on. Good thing the kid was able to hold his dog back. I was so p!ssed at Beanie but more at myself for forgetting to take it with me. Anyway, let me know if it works while in the purse. |
Ok, but you are right, it might not work in a purse. Daisy doesn't lose it when a dog is across the street. Only when we are walking right by it. She can get even a normally calm dog stirred up. People don't know what they are getting into when they walk their "normal" dog past us. Lol. But some people recognize her and take a wide path around us. Lol |

Well I just ordered this, haven't got it yet, so hoping it works. |
OK, got mine a couple days ago & have mixed results: Dolly gets sooo excited when other dogs are playing together or playing with toys. She can't control her barking & my poor Teena doesn't get toy playtime because of this. So we got down on the floor with the toy box & started playing with Teena, & Dolly started barking her head off. She didn't flinch when I pushed the button--but Teena stopped playing & walked away. Tried the same thing about 4 times with the same results. Once they started barking at some noise & again it worked on Teena (who really isn't a problem) but not Dolly. There might be a little hope, but maybe it's wishful thinking: today they started barking just a little & I held the Bark Genie & said "No bark" & they BOTH quieted down. But truthfully, they did listen to me sometimes before the bark genie. BTW, Dolly's hearing is fine. Maybe the Bark Genie will be returned................ |
Well im bummed of coarse i have to have stubborn dogs. The first day my yorky acknowledged he heard it twice. But after that forget it. Princess didnt even act like she heard it. So disappointed really needed it to work. Just do not know what to do with them now. |

I also tried it on my Mom's Golden and she picked her ears up, so she heard it. Oh well! It was worth a try. |
Sorry that this device didn't work for some people, but very happy that it worked for others. I am still "pushing" it to people that I meet during my walks that have dogs going crazy. That being said, I have had to reinforce Beanie with it a few times. BUT every time I use it, it works and she calms right down. I am so glad, and say thank you, thank you thank you Bark Genie, every time it works!!:) |
I didnt have luck but i knew it might not going into it. Each dog is different. |
I got one of these (Another brand) when Roxy was young after she found her voice. Her barking times were the late night outings. It was like she was announcing to the world she was there, and she was big & bad!!! I didn't want her turning into a yapper, so I hesitantly got one not knowing if i would damage her ears. Well it worked. When she would start, I just pushed the button quickly 2 times. She stopped immediately. The occasions to use it decreased. Then one night, something outside was bugging her. She stood at the patio door & started that intense barking. I picked the gadget up & pushed the button 1 quick times. She happened to see me do it this time. She looked at me with that 'Oh that's just you' look in her eye..... and it never worked on her again. The little smarty pants figured it out. LOL it just sat in a drawer for a few years. This past year I decided to try it again for those late night sessions when she gets the need to sound off like that. She has forgotten what she learned as a child. It worked again, but I'm careful not to let her see me use it. Keep this in mind... your little furbutt may be a smarty pants too. :) |
