New member saying hi Hello, my wife and I just recently (2 weeks ago) rescued a Yorkshire and found that there weren't many people to help with getting him back into good health, in the pricing department anyway. He's just to cute and I couldn't see taking him to a shelter as they might have put him down. The Vet says he is about 5 years old, and gave him a dewormer. He was and still is emaciated, also why I held off on all his other shots, but he is getting better. As soon as he gains some more weight (only 3.1 last week) I'll get the rest of his shots. Any helpful (friendly please) advice or tips to help with getting him back on the the best health road is kindly appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Ok, without knowing all the circumstances of this pups hx its hard to give any advice regarding too much. As for the emaciation...if it is caused from starvation and not illness (?) start with some boiled chicken and rice, gradually add a good quality kibble. I would also wonder about supplements given the shape you are describing. There are so many variables. I can tell you to not give him table scraps, grapes, onions, etc., no high fat foods at all. Its so hard to say when there is so little information here :( Welcome to YT and I'm glad you found us, you will find all the info you need here to help raise your healthy pup! Also, you do not have to ever consider a shelter, a REPUTABLE RESCUE is better for these small pups, and we can even help with that! |

Hi and welcome to YT :)! Congrats on your new kiddo, he sounds precious and I hope he brings you and your wife much joy. Where did you rescue him, or did you just mean that you found him? If you found him, please please please do put up fliers and call your shelters to report him found in case some desperate owner has been looking for him for a long time. Also check Craigs List lost and found pets. Would love to see a piccie of the little feller! |
Awwww good for you for rescuing! Unfortunately I'm not much help in helping him gain weight and get back to health but there are several on here that have rescued before that could probably help. Just wanted to say welcome and please post pics when you get a chance so we can see your fur baby! |

We rescued him from a couple in the city near the area i was visiting family. They were pretty much just giving him away, but he looked pretty bad and I couldn't just leave him behind. I haven't had any test yet but soon will do one at a time. Can't afford all at once. And as for knowing any other info on him, I don't and there is no more contact with prior owner. Stinks but true |
