might have eaten some chicken bones
 
Hello everyone:
My think my 3 year old yorkie 9 lbs might have eaten some small chicken bones this morning he seems to be ok only not to much of a appetite drinking water Ok. Should I be worried?

Chicken bones are said to possibly splinter when eaten by a dog and consequently cause serious problems going through the digestive tract. However, I gave several dogs I had, before I was old enough to know better, chicken bones to eat all the time (I was a pre-teen at the time). Luckily, there were no noticeable negative side effects. I know now however that chicken bones are a big no-no.

How is he doing this morning? Cooked bones are not good, but they can have raw bones as they're softer.

I think he is going to be Ok, seems to be eating and drinking water normally.
Having normal stools and running around with lots of energy. I will be sure he does not get into the trash again. Thank all of you for your concern, no more bones for my little guy

In the olden days we did feed our dog chicken bones, I'm amazed nothing ever happened. If he's still going poop and not vomiting in a couple of days, your home free, otherwise it could be an obstruction, bones don't dissolve like other foods. Like Ann said, raw chicken bones are okay, they aren't as likely to cause a problem and splinter. It's best to keep the trash always covered or in a cabinet, they are pretty resourceful.

Glad to hear he seems to be fine after getting into the trash. I'm pretty lucky that none of mine are garbage diggers. There are so many dangers in the trash it's best to keep your trash safely up and out of reach. Once a garbage digger it seems like they will repeat this dangerous habit.
