Mia is a climber. How about your yorkie. So 13 week old Mia has been with us for three days and she is already a climbing escape artist. Initially, I decided to use a pen to keep her contained during potty training. I had her crate in one corner of the pen, her food in another. She promptly climbed on top of the crate and climbed out of the pen. I removed the crate and put a blanket down. She then literally climbed the sides of the pen and straddled the top before falling over the side. That was the end of the pen. We are now giving crate training a try and she has really taken to it. Any other yorkie climbers out there? |
Yes! My female Lola is an extreme escape artist and a hyper little thing. She knows how to crawl out of her pen and also learned how to open the zipper part of their pen. |
That's funny, mine is more of a hopper I would say, for as little as they are they sure do amazing things. |
so funny that your Lola can open a zipper. I know having a climber can be a safety hazard, but it is the cutest thing watching a yorkie puppy climb up a crate to escape. My first Yorkie was a climber. I was new to owning a pet, someone lent me a large crate, but LOL I set it up upside down so I was surprised when I would come home and find the dog loose in the house. Then I saw him climbing up the side of the crate one rung at a time and pushing hard with his head on the top of the crate which then would open a bit so he could jump out. Thankfully once I realized the crate was set up wrong I turned it over and the problem was solved. I just remembered that before figuring it was upside down, I went to extreme lengths securing the door like using extra bungy cords to secure it, LOL you would think I would have realized that the door was still closed and that he was probably not closing it back up, I blame this on the fact that I was young and blond:D:D |
My last girl, now past, you put up a blockage, to her it was a challenge for her. She thought it was a game lol. I never saw her climb, but she was always running free in the house lol. At this time there were no x-pens, crates. I had a 4 foot high gate made to confine her in the kitchen, she found a way to always get out lol. they are very determined lil critters lol. |
Emma is a climber! |
My Brandi (RIP) wasn't a climber but I swear she was an escape artist. It took me sometime to figure out how she could get out of so her crate and expen. What she would do is carefully watch how I put her in. She would then escape the same way I put her in. Remember she had 8 hours to figure out how to open a latch door. I would come home and she would be waiting for me at the door so excited. Of course I would have to clean up her mess but I could never stay mad for more than 10 seconds. |
My Madison is a climber!!!! So I place her in a crate for her safety when we go out since she's at the chewing everything in site stage. |
I have the iris ex pen . .they make a cover for it that works great |
1 Attachment(s) Piper is a bouncer...and a spinner...and a boinger....and a darter! She has brought me a kind of happiness that I never expected. And her energy energizes me and certainly keeps me on my toes. She is good for me on every level! |
Brody loves climbing on the back of the sofa & jumping on the king size bed. I swear he thinks he's a flying wolf. LOL |
I have one escape artist. I was about 5-feet away from her when got out of our fenced in yard. Chicken wired every place that I thought she could escape from and she got out again. Called in my landscaper and had them dig a trench around the perimeter of the fence. then had him pile rocks up the fence three inches high. $600 later I told my husband that my next move is a moat ;) |
