Galen is 3.5 lbs. . He is athletic . . The vet said very healthy but some dogs are leaner then others. |
I would call my 3 as having an "athletic" body - so, sort of average I guess, but lean. |
My boys are about the same height and length, but Teddy is built but much finer than Max. I would still put them both in the "average" category. |
Dinky is average. The vet has suggested he stay around 4 pounds as opposed to 4. He is a sturdy little guy. |
Dooney is 4 pounds and has petite features. Pheebee is 4 pounds also and is shorter but longer than Dooney so she looks bigger. Madison is 4 pounds at 5 months old. She is taller than both Dooney and Pheebee and looks bigger because I have her in her puppy coat so she is fluffy. Love all my babies and their different personalities and looks....yorkies are so diverse in size and looks.!!! |
Tibbe has filled out to a sturdy 7 lbs. at 9" tall, 9" long, having gained almost 2 lbs. since I got him as a very thin, 9 mo. old who needed baby teeth pulled, a good dental cleaning, neutering, ear mite/yeast treatment and good nutrition. He had virtually no muscle development and struggled to even jump up a 4" step the first day home, having spent his entire life to that point in a crate. We've had 6 years of activities and a yard to run and chase squirrels in, neighborhood to take walks through, activities to do and good meals, so he's really bulked up over the thin youngster I brought home in 2008. I can still feel his ribs easily but he looks a tad heavy to me. My other two Yorkies were both undersized and on the thin side throughout their whole lives. Thing is, his vets always list his body type for a Yorkshire Terrier as "ideal" on his bi-annual check-up reports and have never suggested he should lose weight. His muscles, which I could barely detect when I first got him, now feel hard as a rock! |
Pippin is 14 mos and almost 8 lbs. She has long legs, long and very thin. Always on the go I think keeps her trim. She eats three times a day about 1/4 cup dry kibble each meal with a Tbs of Ceasars in the morning mixed in...She loves that. But lunch is hit or miss if she'll eat it and then always wants dinner. She goes, goes and goes and doesn't stop until about 8 a night, then she is done. |
