When did your baby start sleeping w/ you? I was wondering at what age or weight your puppy started sleeping with you. Lucy Too sleeps throught the night with no accidents in her crate but I was wondering if it would be to early for her to sleep with my husband and I. My mom gave it a year b/4 he old doxie started sleeping with them and he did fine, but they let rocky sleep with them at like 4 months and he peed in the bed a couple times... I just wanted to know when everyone else let their puppy. I think Lucy Too would do good but I didn't know if she was to young. she's about 3lbs. and she will be 11weeks tomorrow |
Bailey slept w/me the first night I brought him home at 10 wks old, he would sleep through the night and never had an accident, as soon as I woke up, I'd take him straight out to pee, never letting his feet hit the ground. My bed is high, so if he woke up in the night he would just sit on the edge and whine, then I knew to take him out. So that worked out well. |
Princess was a first nighter! There was no way anyone in this house would get some sleep if she didn't jump in with Mom & Dad. :D Now she shares HER king size bed with us. :) |
Thanks for the replys. I guess I'll try it tonight for the first time. I know I'm going to line the outside of the bed with pillows though so just in case she rolls off.... Do you think I should leave some kind of light on so if she wakes up she can see where the edge of the bed is? |

thanks rhonda |
Since the night I brought them home. :p |
Our babies started sleeping with us just last night at 5 months old. We’ve had them for about 8 weeks and although they are allowed to “visit” they sleep in their playpen. Decided to take the plunge, and hopefully not into a puddle of wee-wee in the middle of the night. I’m sound asleep, and whoola I have a little tongue go right into my mouth. I think the little Surfie dude was telling me to quit snoring. I was laughing so hard, I almost wee-wee’d in the bed! Heehee |
We started letting the girls sleep with us once they were potty training and sleeping through the night. Now they do fine, they let us know when they need to get up and go potty and I have a step for Sailor in my room so she can get off the bed when she is ready!! Your little one should be fine, I just wouldn't let her jump off the bed! |
ten weeks old. since day one he'sslept with us. |
Thanks everyone.... Yea I guess I'm going to have my husband make a couple steps for lucy today b/4 I get home. |

My Tiger started sleeping in my bed at 9 weeks (I got him when he was about 7 weeks). He sleeps on my left side for fear that he might get crushed by my husband if he is inbtween us. I lay out his blanket as this ensures he won't relieve himself. Lights are out and I was never worried he'd fall off. Of course the first week he slept with me, I am constantly waking up making sure he is okay. He is now 14 weeks old and will forever be sleeping with me or with my daughter when she is home from college visiting. He sleeps pretty good and won't get up unless I do, at whatever time that is. When he wakes up in the middle of the night, I take him to his peepee pad to relieve himself, wipe him down good and take him back to bed . . he has no problem going back to sleep, nor I. Not once did he have an "accident", even when he had soft stool over a week ago. He's got 2 favorite positions . . .he starts off going under the down comforter and settles himself in-between my thighs. In the middle of the night, he eventually moves right next to me. He is never without his blanket (he's got 7 that I rotate daily). |
can you tell me how she does? I planned on doing that to my little puppy when i get her.i'm terrified of her peeing all over my bed. |
Cali was just under 5 months old and has slept with me everynight since then. She sleeps all night and goes down the steps on the side of the bed when she wakes up and goes to her pad and then comes back up to kiss me awake. No accidents, I do keep a night light on and pillows on the floor since she is so tiny I am afraid i might accidently knock her off one night. |
Trixie was 6 months when she started sleeping in our bed. She just got spayed and I felt so bad for her... and my husband was gone... Although once in a while I'll put her in her crate to sleep and she's okay with that as well. |
Well Tuesday night I tried letting her sleep with us. She did wonderful. But I woke up about a hundred times thinking my husband may roll over on her. ( She was inbetween us) So about 2:00a.m. I decided to put her back in her crate. I thought I would have a heart attack so I figured I would have to just slowly make the transition. - So last night it took a little bit to get her to sleep but everything was going fine till about 3:00a.m. and the dogs outside started to fight over who got to sleep where. (Our house and my husbands parents house are on the same piece of property. We have about 20 acres and it's about a mile off the road so we have alot of dogs put together. 8 Great Danes, 1 half lab / half chow and lucy the Yorkie) Well we laid out my old futon mattress on our patio area so that our Annabelle (Great Dane) could sleep close to us. We use to bring her inside every once in a while until we got Lucy. We figure when Lucy gets full grown we can start bringing her inside again. Well now all the dogs fight over it. - ok. back to the point.... the dogs woke us up and after that Lucy didn't want to go back to sleep so I had to put her in her crate again. Maybe one day we will make it through the whole night |

Good luck! ! ! |
Sugar sleeps in the crate with my female pomeranian then they all decide at about 2:30 that its time to wake me up she pees and poos has a bite then straight to my bed for the rest of the night she is a cuddler so she does great in the bed. She's 10 1/2 weeks old |
I got my little Josey at at 8 months old. She slept with me from day 1. Most of the time she sleeps all night. If she has to go out she wakes me up by standing on my chest and staring at me and a few licks to the nose if I don't respond fast enough for her. Then I take her out. She has never had an acident on the bed. She is only 3.5lbs. She could very easily jump down and go somewhere is the house but she never has. She is really a good dog. I think it is more fun for her to make me get up! :) |
Most definitly provide a way down off the bed if its very high,we used a 24inch wide stool that was about half the height of our bed, remember its a long way down for those little tikes. |
My ginger used to sleep to her small bed closed to our bed however, I woke up one night and saw her looking at me and shaking. I took her to our bed that night and from the on she sleeps with us. No more shaking at night. I make sure that she is covered with blanket when it's cold. She was 3 months during that time and weighs a little bit more that 2 lbs. I also bought her a pet stairs since our bed is high, she could easily go down to the pee pad whenever she wants to go, she never had an accident. |
Wow! SO everyone sleeps with thier babies. I didn't want Zoe to sleep on the bed with me but I started to let him on my bed the last 2 nights. Now he whines to get on. I don't know if this is a good idea but I love him being next to me. |
