Another dental question I knew Zoey had to get one baby tooth pulled but the vet contacted me saying she has a loose tooth that they recommend taking out. CAN be left alone but it will eventually become painful. She said they'll send me home with antibiotics. I asked about pain killers and she said they'll be injecting/giving her pain killers that'll last 3 days. My question is... should I play it safe and ask for pain killers anyway? Would that be overkill? She's only 5.5 lbs... |
My take is this: I try to always keep Metacam on hand in the event that Billi is in pain, but I'm not sure that you would need more medicine right now than what they're giving her already. You figure, some pain is good- it reminds us of our limitations and will keep her from chewing or biting things she shouldn't be right now. She'll probably be sore tho, so maybe switch her to a softer food for the time being and pile on the hugs and kisses! She'll be better soon, I'm sure :) |
Scooter has had several visits to the dentist for his teeth. His previous owner paid no attention to his teeth so they were really bad when I adopted him. His dentist also would give him an injection for pain but in addition he gave him an oral pain killer which I did give to Scooter for 2 days after the surgery. |
