Thoughts on the Petote carriers?
 
I can't find a carrier that I like, especially because the only carriers I've been able to see in person are the nylon, practical type.. not the pretty purse carriers. Petote looks like they have nice carriers, but I can't seem to find any good pictures of them online.

Anyone here have a Petote?

I don't have a petote, but I do have a Jaraden getaway carrier. It is a little bulky, if I'm totally honest, but very functional and not one person has been able to tell it's a carrier or that Billi is in there, with the exception of when I have the head flaps open for Billi to stick her head out. I've actually taken it to restaurants and the grocery store (don't shoot!) and so long as I have the mesh vents closed, no one's ever known.

The Kwigybo carriers are really cute too, if you can get your hands on them!

I made a sling for Winnie that just looks like a boho bag...it has fuzzy fleece lining and a stiff bottom. I put a hook and attach it to her harness. She lays in there 9 times out of 10...every once in a while she pokes her head out....I wear it cross body. I've never had a problem taking her places but I can't say I've taken her to a grocery store or anything. It kinda just looks like a purse. I will post a picture of it later when I can get on my computer and make it the right size to share!

The Jaraden carriers are nice but I just recently saw Dogs of Glamour released a new style called the "Alexander" bag and it looks like a mix of the Jaraden Le Petit and the Kwigy-Bo Alex for about the same price. I'm not sure which one I want, lol.

I saw some reviews on YorkieTalk about the Kwigy-Bo being flimsy so I'm not sure if I would want a flimsy bag for the money. I've only heard good things about Jaraden. I'm just having a hard time deciding because I can't see any of these bags in person. I like the Wooflink carriers but they are sold out, I believe. :(

That sounds really cute! I'm scared to use a sling style with Chloe because I still need to train her how to be calm in a bag. She goes CRAZY when people pass when she's out on a walk so I don't want her going crazy in a bag.. I need something sturdy for her because she's a rascal, lol. I would love to see it though, it sounds very cute!!

I don't have one, but I've seen the petote metro a few times and like the look of it. I've also seen the jaraden Windsor and didn't like it as it was chunky, hard and heavy even while empty.

I have 4 kwigy bos (1 small & 3 large) I like them because ZoE is bigger and she fits in the large (just). It's on ok bag, but way overpriced for the cheap quality hardware and construction.

My favorite bag of all time is the cece kent Nantucket that I used with my last yorkie. Unfortunately, they don't make it in a large size to fit ZoE. It was expensive initially, but is leather and good quality. The petote Katie is similar in style but I can't speak to the quality as I haven't seen it in person. I've spent more on four junkier bags for ZoE than I did the one quality bag for Chelsea, so I'd advise to get quality right off the bat.

I love the looks of the bag you posted, really cute! I like the Kwigybo Alexa bag the best because of the functionality of the big flap in the front. While I totally get the concern about flimsy-ness, having the Jaraden getaway makes me want something a little softer on the sides. So long as it doesn't collapse on my dog, that's my only concern, but this getaway? It's so bulky that it's kinda awkward to carry at times.

Definitely going to research the bag you posted tho.. cutecute! :thumbup:

I'm really excited about the Alexander bag. I personally love the looks. It is lighter in weight like the Kwigy Bo: 2.65 pounds.

I have not read about the Kwigy-Bo being flimsy, only that it has a tendency to 'collapse' in on the pup, but most people are really happy with them.

The Jaraden are all gorgeous. They have closed their business, so if you want one, snap it up fast.

Petote is beautiful. Look at their website for photos. There should be at least one boutique in NYC that carries a couple of the styles for you to see in person. Call ahead.

I am also not familiar with Petote, but I have a Jaraden SoHo bag. It's really pretty and trendy looking, but I have to admit it is very uncomfortable to carry.

It's a bit bulky, somewhat heavy and the handles end up digging into my shoulders. I ordered it online, and I wished I would have tried it out in person first. So, I cannot really recommend it.

I just ordered another carrier, which I tried on minus my pup, from a store called Zoomies in New York. It is much more like a tote bag and seemed so much lighter to carry.

I wish you luck in your pursuit of a fashionable, yet comfortable carrier.

I actually might order the Alexander bag instead of a Petote. I like that it has pockets. Basically, right now it's between the Alexander and the Petote. I think I like the Alexander more than the Kwigy-Bo. Dogs of Glamour has another really nice bag too, the Classic Satchel. Dogs of Glamour Classic Satchel

I think the Alexander looks to have longer straps though, and the Classic Satchel looks to be more of a hand bag? The button up sides scare me a little bit too because I'm scared Chloe will want to break free, lol. She needs a little bag training on how to be calm inside.

The SoHo is a very nice bag, but I agree that it should be comfortable for the dog AND for us, lol. I didn't like that the SoHo sides need to be pushed down for the dog to see out. It definitely is a good concealing bag, though.

Really?? Jaraden? I figured Kwigybo would be out of business, but Jaraden? There's nothing on the site...

I wasn't planning on buying another Jaraden, but I will if they liquidate their bags. I'd like to find something cheaper when my boy comes along. :cool:

Yes, Jaraden is closing. The owner is moving on to different pursuits. The carriers are on sale in my store and elsewhere (there are a couple not marked down in my store yet, but anyone interested can contact me). Prices will likely not go lower. The distributor's inventory is fluid, so not guaranteed available.

Kwigy-Bo was sold to a new owner last year. They have not re-stocked their full line yet.

The Sides don't need to be pushed down for the dog to see, the middle part is low and the sides are high, so the dog can see to the front (and back if they have enough room to turn).

I don't really use my Soho bag because it's a tight fit for Lola and it's very wide and heavy for me.

No kidding about Jaraden- they have some great bags! But truthfully, I've wanted a Kwigybo Alexa all along and only went with Jaraden because no one could get the Alexa. If they are going to restock their line, I can hold out longer for it. Shoot, the boy won't be here til December anyway. :p

It's sad to see the few pet carrier companies we have going out of business.

And it's just as disturbing to see them sold. The companies are never the same. Kwigy Bo has gone down hill IMO. The recent bags I've bought do not compare to the first. The material, especially the hardware is just not the same quality. The zippers are the cheapest made in China quality you can find.

I will gladly pay the price for quality, materials, hardware and construction. But I hate when a company comes out with a good product and then outsources either the materials, production, or both, to china and they charge the same price for the new junk. It makes it hard to maintain customers and get positive referrals.

I agree, we don't have that many companies making carrier bags and they end up going out of business. The Cece Kent bags are a good example too, I looked up the bag you mentioned and it is GORGEOUS! Unfortunately, they did go out of business and I can't find the bags online.

I think the companies go out of business because maybe they aren't getting enough business to run? Cece Kent was also quite expensive and the average person probably won't buy a $400 dog carrier. They were gorgeous, though.

I actually just placed an order for a Wooflink Chic Bag 3 from wet nose boutique. I was thinking about the Alexander DOG bag but between these 2, I like the Wooflink more. Wooflink always sells out their products right away so I'm glad wet nose boutique had the bag. Hopefully they don't go out of business as well because I really like their things.. but their bags always sell out so I don't think they will (I hope, lol)

This is the bag I made for Winnie...she seems to be pretty comfortable in it. I have used it since the day I brought her home :-) I am not a professional seamstress obviously but it works for us!! :rolleyes:

I had to shorten the strap a little bit after she came home because I didn't like her bumping on my hip when i walked ... now she sits a little closer to the bottom on my side...I think it feels a little more secure for her and I.

I have the Roxy carrier by Petote. I attached a picture of Miranda Kerr holding the same carrier I have. I also have a picture of me carrying it in my albums. Maui loves his carrier.

I am looking for one of the CeCe Kent bags Taos or Nantucket. Even a used bag . . . I have the Jaraden bag. I really like it. Just wish it came in black lol I have the mustard

Jaraden is not going out of business, just in the process of making some changes. New and improved bags will be coming back next year!

The new owners of Kwigy-Bo do not seem so invested in the company. They have brought back one large black Alex bag within the last three years since they took over. I wouldn't hold your breath for the Alexa bag. Just my opinion after working with them for so long.
