Sebby would pant and he didn't like to settle down. Rita would throw up after a few minutes. Last month I took my yorkies and biewers on vacation with me. We drove over 6000 miles in 4 weeks. With Sebby I put him in the dog car seat next to me. Rita I started with short trips around town and limited her food and water. She did great . Now every time we go outside they run to the back of the car and wait to be lifted into the back. I don't remember if you said he had his head out but I really wouldn't. We had one of our rescues who had to have an eye removed due to damage from debris while her head was out. My babies love the windows open but I never open them enough to stick little heads out. | No head out of window, during the summer, a friend picked me and Cody up in his brand new pick up truck for a short ride, he had all the windows open, all electric operated, I had Cody on my lap, too many buttons on the arm rest for me to play with to try to close the window, and it was a short ride, just down the road to visit another friend, in the 3 minute ride Cody had his head out of the window, if there was a way for him to sit on the side view mirror he would have. Because Cody had such a fear of cars, I allowed him to have this little treat. We were going slow, no car in front of us and it was just a few minutes. I know the danger in dogs riding with their heads out of windows, I get so upset when I see this on the road, many ppl do not know of the danger until their dog loses an eye. When I had his side window open it was no more then 3 inches. Thanks for this reminder for all that will read this thread. NEVER allow your dog to have his head out of the window, no matter how much they LOVE it. It is very dangerous, dust, debris get into their eyes, if on a highway cigs. get flipped out of windows. Always make sure their heads are inside the car. |
