Craigslist ad - yorkies for sale - READY AT 6 weeks of age??? Ok so I just saw an ad in Craigslist (New Jersey) for Yorkies for sale...states that they are 30 days old and will be ready to go in 10 days. That is so sad, cannot imagine those pups going at 6 weeks old! I know some go earlier than the ideal 12 weeks but 6 weeks seems really early! :( |
Unbelievable :(. Although sadly, I'm not shocked. |
It probably is a scam. A lot of puppies for sale on Craigs List are Scams. |
I suppose it could be a scam but, sadly, most backyard breeders sell their pups as soon as they are weaned. Once the pups start eating solid food the mom stops cleaning up after them and no one who is waiting for the $$$ that the pups will bring in wants to clean up puppy poo instead of holding cold hard cash. |
Before i got on here and learned a lot. I searched on local classifieds. They were free yorkies. ( yea i know nothing is for free) i messaged 4 different people. One emailed me back. Man lost his wife who was a breeder and he was getting ride of the last two. Had a list of questions. Nothing personal. Sounded ligit. Intil five seconds later i got another emal from a different person. Same story different name. All 4 were bogus. Live and learn. As a senior to have to pay more than500.00 is hard. If not impossible. I realize the strickness and why the cost. But its gonna be only for the rich. So my point is a bogus add. Surprised they set that age tho. |
Link? Maybe we can all flag it & they'll remove it? |
Yorkie terriers puppies I flagged it too! Maybe a scam but I think it is just some people who want the cash rather than taking care of puppies longer!? |
I just flagged it too..... |

It was removed...but they might put it up again.:( |
I totally understand what a breeder puts into the pup. It just has gone crazy expensive for pure bred dogs. Im old so times a changing. I take care of my babies. No offense ment for breeders. |
I'm not sure about New Jersey, but nearly all the states have a law stating the minimum age of sell is no younger than 8 week. Of course this takes all breeds into account and larger breeds mature faster than smaller breeds, so for a yorkie 6 weeks is really really young. Whoever buys at that age will have problems with housebreaking and biting, because a good mama will teach both of these things if left with her babies for 12 weeks. Although many backyard breeders don't even breed "good" mamas, they tend to breed their pets. If you have an address of phone number you could probably turn them over to some state agency. There are large fines for selling younger than state law dictates. |
