I would never allow one of my females to go through even one heat. There is then no risk of mammary cancer. I would never knowingly put a pup at any risk if I could avoid it. Also....pups can be operated on at 3 lbs body weight. YHR just had a 2 pound puppy that had heart surgery! You just need to use a vet with experience with small dogs and one who has up to date anesthetic protocols. |
