I am soooo happy you will be getting another baby. As for males. I adopted my lil boy several months ago, he was 2 1/2 y/o. His prev. owner had him neutered at a very early age (I have the papers on that) , before the leg lifting (marking) began. The longer you wait to neuter and the longer he lifts leg to pee-pee & mark it becomes a habit that may not be broken after he is neutered (that is if you are planning to neuter). Ask your vet what age to neuter the male. If Izzy is 8 months old and lil boy is same age, that is when most males get neutered 7 or 8 months old, always check with your vet. My lil boy squats when he pee-pees and DOES NOT HUMP does not mark, no leg lifting period. I am NOT saying neutered males do not hump, just saying mine does not, but I didn't have him as a baby, I don't know what he did as a puppy. Again so very happy you are planning on getting another baby for lil Izzy and yourself. | Forgot to add, as for them meeting, based on my experience,I have to back up a bit, I had 3 females (all now past) they were all 3 years apart. The last one was "the baby and THE BOSS" lol, when the oldest died there was not much affect on the other 2. 6 months later the middle girl pastes. The baby went into a state of depression, deep depression. Everyone told me to get a buddy for her. She was always the demanding one, the baby, the other 2 would care for her, wash her face, and obey her every command. I didn't know if she could accept a puppy, since she was always babied and bossy. She was 7 y/o, I wanted to wait to see if this depression would pass, 6 months later, no change, so off I went to get her a buddy. I found a huge 8 week old lil girl, big and beautiful, I knew with her being so big my 7 y/o would not be bullying her. When I took the new one home, at first my 7 y/o was is shock, all the puppy jumping in the face. After several weeks the bond my 7 y/o made with this baby was truly amazing. The older one would follow the new kid all over, the older one had to sleep with the new kid, something she NEVER did with her 2 older sisters. My older one was 100% in LOVE with her new baby sister. I would call them Roadway, where ever the young was the older was right there with her. I believe my older one realized what she had and what she lost, she was so much in love and played with the new kid I was shocked. She was so grateful to have a sister back in her life. That's my experance, Izzy has been alone for a month and showing signs of missing her sister, IMHO, I think she will be thrilled to have another playmate, she is just a baby herself, still in the pouncing stage herself. I don't think there will be any problems at all. She my may be a little standoff-age because this will be a male, a diff. smell then her sister, but both are pups, I don't see any problems. She is you pup, how was she with other dogs, was she well behaved when leash walked with her sister. I would just bring the new kid home, set him on the floor and see what Izzy does.Just be watchful. I am soooo excited for both you and lil Izzy. |
