Hi, I´m new My name is Lida and I live in Mexico, I found the forum trough google. I adopted my first yorkie, she was rescued from a puppy mill about two years ago and the people that had her can no longer take care of her. Her name is Ofelia, she has luxating patellas and had surgery but I´ll post about that in the health forum. So, this is my first yorkie, any advice? I have two other dogs, also rescues and Olivia the big one, just adores her she thinks she is the best thing under the sun,Octavia the small one is ok with her and think she is way better good looking ;), I think they will be friends once she can interact more with them. I gave her a bath today because she was a bit dirty, she is eating RC Yorkie dry food. If you have any advice and tips I´m all ears, she has been trough a lot and I really want her to have the best time of her life here. P.S. She is six years old. Lida :animal-pa |
Welcome to YT!!! Congratulations on your new pup, and thank you for rescueing her! I am a big fan of Royal Canin food, have always fed it to all my yorkies for many, many years with excellent, healthy dogs. Like with any dog food, if you find she would develop any adverse reactions to the dog food (I have never had one that did, but like people, pups are individual and can have issues to anything!), then consider changing it. If she likes it, is eating it, and has no problems with it, then it aint broke, dont fix it! At least dont change her food this early in the game....just one more upset to her stress level, while she acclimates to her new circumstance! She is getting excellent scientifically formulated nutrition from that kibble, so do not fret over that! I like to recommend two excellent books about Yorkies....."Yorkies For Dummies" and "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide"....both are available on Amazon.com, and they will get you educated very quickly on all aspects of taking care of your pup. Again, congrats on your new family member....spoil her until she absolutely STINKS, adore her unconditionally, and she will return all your efforts ten fold! |
