Obessessing over something? Lexi has been walking frantically around the house with her nose to the ground for the past 15 minutes like she's looking for something. It's not just in one room either and I try to distract her, but she just keeps on going. It is so weird. Has anyone seen this behavior in their pup before? |
Is that all she is doing? Is she making any noises while she is doing it? Is she sniffing the whole time? Maybe she smells something. |

No noises, except the sound of sniffing. She finally stopped when Parker woke up from his nap. Probably did it a good 20 minutes or longer. She was walking mainly along the walls in the dining room and living room. I would call to her and she would just ignore me. I tried picking her up to distract her, but the moment I put her down she went right back to it. Not sure what she was looking for, but whatever it was, she never found it! |
If she was going around the walls I bet she was smelling mice. You might have mice in the walls. Terriers are great at hunting. Keep your eye out for mice poop |
Terriers can act like that when they are scenting something like a mouse or even a bit of food nearby. More than likely it is mice scent she's picking up on. |
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. But now I have to worry about mice in my walls. Eek! |
Yep, she's on the hunt! Get used to it. It will happen anytime she's got the scent of something. Nothing will distract her, except just for a moment. When Roxy gets her prey, she brings it to us & lays it at our feet, then sits & waits to be praised. LOL It cracks me up, cuz I'm trying to have hissy fit that she brought it to me when, in reality, she did what she was bred to do... hunt. Shouldn't she be rewarded? Oh my, what to do? Good luck!!! |
Boo does that makes it hard to tell if he needs out. But he goes outside and he keeps his nose to the ground. Its not every second but does do it a lot. |
LOL Your Lexi reminds me of Christinee's Charlie! The clip below is when Christinee thought Charlie was crazy.. but it turned out they had more mice. ROFL This is one of my favorite clips of Charlie! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...ible-mice.html |
Yup, it's probably a mouse or mice he's smelling! |
agree, she's on the hunt, they become obsessed with tracking. Cody's been tracking this last week, he keeps pulling off the heat register covers in the living. Their sooo cute. |
So... just so you have something to look forward to... Lexi might leave you a tiny furry present in your bed, inside a shoe, etc... ROFL! |
Yep, the terrier is strong in Piper; she'll do a pattern around the house until she "uncovers" treat she buried in comforter. And the other day, right as guests were arriving, Piper caught a mouse and brought it in the house. Oh my gosh, I had to "battle" Piper to get the mouse (like I really wanted to that) before it ran off...My co-worker who couldn't get over it...."I've never heard of a dog catching a mouse! A dog!!!" Piper is faaassssst! |
