getting along with nieces I have two males and a female 5 years old. One of the males had puppies with a breeder and I kept a girl Mallky (their mom died the same moment she was being born, so I kept her. Mallky is now 3 years old and bred her. She gave birth on 11/28/06 one male and two females. Suffered a lot because I lost the little male after six days of doing everything I could. Have been struggling with one of the two females left, by handfeeding her every day for the past 4 weeks. She is finally strong enough to suck from mom and now almost as big as the other one. I now have a problem.... I let them out in the house and the play with all except with Mallky's uncle who is single and does not want them near him. He got into a fight with the niece(Mallky the mother) the day before she gave birth and also another day when they were all together. What do I ? I am keeping the puppies but he stays very far away from them when I take them out. I tried putting one close to him and he got angry, growled and showed her his teet. HELP |
Your problem may be with your mommy. Zowie would not let Bronx (the dad) around the pups until they were past 6 weeks old. By about 8 weeks everyone was fine and happy. Zoe didn't seem to start the fights but she did - she gave this look and Bronx would attack her. We kept them completely separated until about 8 weeks and everyone was fine. He started getting aggressive again around time for Zoe to come in heat - I took him to be fixed. No more problems here, now all the boys are fixed, girls will be next. Just a thought. I found your storyline a little hard to follow, so I may have missed the mark? |
growling at nieces thanks for your reply. I have kept the puppies as far from the uncle (Benji) as possible, but you have given me hope that they will learn to get along when the puppies are older. I hope the uncle never bites them because I know mom ( Mallky)will get into a fight with him again. I don't want to spay them. I have never believed in doing that with my dogs. I keep them separate and have the females with panties when they are in heat.I was told to spay them to stop them from marking territory, but my vet told me it was not always the solution. I wish I could find a spray that they don't like the smell and maybe they won't do it. |
I found it very hard to separate mine, they like each others company so much. Plus, I am a big softy. The first time one of the boys started smelling his sister, off to the vet. They were 7 months old. I had also noticed the boys becoming a little more aggressive, I hope it settles that, too. I know Zowie was the instigator with Bronx, but his being fixed seems to make him less of a threat to her. Our four puppies are from Zowie's one and only litter, 5/22/05, I didn't have the heart to let any leave home, so I KNOW I don't want any more puppies. I love my six! |
